      Hi Kolbers,
Charley and I drove over to Coffeeville Alabama yesterday to visit and talk Kolb's
with a fine fella named Kenneth Reeves. He is building a Kolbra also and is
knee deep into kit 2. Kenneth, for those of you that do not know him, is related
some how to James Tripp and was the man that bought his second kit at this
past Kolb fly in. He and his lovely wife Bobbie were very pleasant to visit
with and have a beautiful place. Driving over we kept wondering if he had a strip
at his place because that area of Alabama is very hilly. Low and behold just
like the Kolb factory he has the only flat 1200' section of property in the
county. He explained how some 25 years ago after building his home he built the
shop in which he works just for an airplane. 25 years later...WOW that's sticking
to a plan folks. It was very neat to see a builder just ahead of where I
am with my plane and well worth the drive. He is planning on buying a computer
this week and joining in on the list. It was amazing how two people from two
different states could take a set of plans, well almost plans, and a pile of aluminum
and come with the same thing. After returning home I rushed of to the
shop and are as of this morning are just few rivets from completing my first wing!
Cant wait to start the next....

      Having a blast.......

The best markers I've used are the German made ones - they often have a
pinkish color to the body and are often sold at larger graphic
stores. Brand is Stabilo - Permanent Fine Tip
While building parts for an RV-6 I tried the Sharpies, they draw about one
or two lines on aluminum sheet metal and then do not want to write any
more. Pilots work but there very fine tips don't last long and dry out
faster than the German brand. Haven't tried the Mark's-A-Lot brand. I've
lost my local source for the German ones, last batch I got while working in
Australia. Any body knows of mail order place that carries them PLEASE let
      me know.
      Thanks,
      jerb

Hay Vic I was going to send you the gas cap from my busted tank and I
forgot, sorry, but I might have a pickup in there too so if I remember
the next time I get out there I will check, then you can get them both
      for the price of none.

Yep, Herb, you're right about the plethora of mostly good parts on
junked electronics. The problem is that most of the components are
sitting on ckt boards with leads almost too short to splice. And locally
we have to PAY $ to junk stuff!

It has been established cracks have formed along the pencil mark
line. It's considered a no-no in aircraft construction industry to use
      pencil marking aluminum.
