--> Kolb-List message posted by: "boyd young" <by0ung@brigham.net> I like the cooling tower. With intake air passing through the radiator and oil cooler prior to arriving to the carbs, should be no need for additional carb heat to prent carb ice. =============== it has been proven that if you heat up realy cold air to just above the freezing point then cool it with the evaporation of the gas that you will make carb ice... where you would not if the air was not heated. boyd

--> Kolb-List message posted by: "Mike Pierzina" <planecrazzzy@lycos.com> Hey, Thanks Richard.... Because the site is FREE , they limit access to it, After the Glitter wears away this won't be a problem. It's just that I've been telling EVERYBODY about it. Sometimes I can't even get on it to add more description to the photos....The Last picture in ( Building Log IIII ) wouldn't go to it's page when I "Clicked" on it...I've got that fixed now. On my trip to view Ken's Kolbra I noticed that the steel type markings on the fuselage bleed through the white powder coating. It was a very light yellow and to be honest looked pretty cool. Sorta aircrafty looking if you will. What happened here? Did the cage not get properly cleaned prior to the powder coating process? Does this or has this happened to any others in the painting process? Paul Petty Building Ms. Dixie Kolbra/912UL/Warp do not archive

--> Kolb-List message posted by: Bob Bean <slyck@frontiernet.net> You can tell easily if the surface has been prepped right before powder coating. -Push on the paint with the edge of a screwdriver, if the paint pops off revealing a shiny surface, that is the mill glaze that should have been removed first. Powder coat over inadequately prepared tubing is a waste of money. It's a tedious job done right. Successful paint shops wash down with industrial detergent (refigeration coil cleaner is great), deionized water or rain water, sand cloth or glass bead blast. -BB, do not archive Paul Petty wrote: >--> Kolb-List message posted by: "Paul Petty" <ppetty@c-gate.net> > >Kolbers, >Now that I'm back down to earth from drooling over Marks plane and back to building, I remembered something I wanted to ask the list. Mine also has the yellow lettering visible in the powder coat. If I had the chance to do it again, I would buy a bare fuselage so I could weld several additional fittings to it and then epoxy prime it. --> Kolb-List message posted by: WillUribe@aol.com Uncle Craig and Tim It was nice to see your Kolbs in person yesterday afternoon. You sure have put a lot of work into the FireStar and MK III. I especially liked the Arizona paint runs. I have never seen paint runs like that. Keep up the good work and I will keep tabs on your progress via your webpage. Looks like the FireStar will be ready for the Monument Valley gathering and I'm sure your MK III will be flying before Big Lar's MK III. The whole thing is white and it looks as good as the day I bought the kit in 97. no bleed through or yellowing at all. Denny Rowe
