Yup, that and chasing Brook trout up and down the rivers of eastern Quebec. Now that's some beautiful country! Wish I'd been there at LZ Skeeter Bottom to pop smoke for the old Hawk for old times sake though. Actually we did meet once. The year Miss P-fer won Grand Champ at Oshkosh. I also bought all my Stits stuff (covering, paints) from Jim & Dondi in 1999. For my Mark-3, the covering was $595, and the paints (Poly-Brush, Poly-Spray, Poly-Tone white, plus two accent colors) was $475. These prices included shipping. No escape from inflation, I guess. --> Kolb-List message posted by: "Larry Bourne" <biglar@gogittum.com> Hmmm...............maybe we'll listen to you & Boyd quibble over why his is better than yours ?? :-) :-) If worse comes to worst, Tom, I'll do that, but I really want to have this thing in the air before then, tho' it'll be nearly impossible to fly off the 40 hrs and bring it with me. You changed numbers below - do you want RG-58 or RG-59 ?? Or is there a difference ?? Not my forte. Why not Radio Shack ?? Today's (my Saturday) project is to tear thru the mountain of red-neck junk on my porch, throw 2/3 of it away, and find that durned antenna. (and SWR meter) When I built the antenna, I had it hanging from the drapery rod inside the window of my metal mobile home, and was trimming bits off it while testing with the SWR. At one point an incoming Bonanza complained to PSP Approach that one of his transmissions was blanked by a carrier. ( ! ! ! ! ! ) This with an ancient Narco handheld. Thanks for the offer............ might just take you up on it. Lar. --> Kolb-List message posted by: "Richard Swiderski" <swiderski@rocketjet.net> Kolbers, Just a reminder, the Great Kolb Hanger Flying GetToGether will take place at dusk on Friday during Sun & Fun. George Randolph & I will be hosting at my trailer in the UL trailer parking lot immediately south of UL camping. A map will be posted at the Kolb booth. It's a white tandem trailer with green trim & a burgundy RV awning. All are welcome. Bring a chair if you can. We'll be there Wed - Sat if anyone needs a place to get a drink & rest in the shade, come by anytime & make yourself at home weather we are there or not. UltraStar Owners: I have a set of bungy gear mechanisms to convert your rigid gear into a cadilac ride. $40 takes them. Also there are two 15 gal., 7.1 lb, cylindrical plastic auxiliary transluscent fuel tanks free for the asking. Fits a SS or FS back seat great, or would make a nice portable refueling station. Don & Paul, I'm working on those pictures. ...Richard Swiderski -----Original Message----- From: owner-kolb-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-kolb-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of John Hauck Subject: Re: Kolb-List: Sun-'N-Fun!! --> Kolb-List message posted by: "John Hauck" <jhauck@elmore.rr.com> Hi Jim and Dondi: Someone will let you know for sure when we are going to get together. I think it is Fri or Sat night at Richard Swiderski's trailer in the UL camp ground, but I could be mistaken. If I am, Richard can straighten me out. I will be flying down and camping with my airplane in the UL aircraft parking/under the wing camping area. Ya'll come see me if you get a chance. I'll be looking for you all when I get there. john h DO NOT ARCHIVE

It's never happened for your situation but what you did (transmit without a license and interfere with air traffic communications, however unintended) technically is a violation of the law and was subject to a $10,000 fine per day. A noise bridge, by comparison, measures antenna parameters by receiving not transmitting and gives you better data, both resistance and reactance not just ratio of reflected power. See ya next month. The meter is a 2 needle thing from a ham radio store that they said would work fine on my frequencies, and it does seem to. Erich Weaver borrowed it to tune his dipole, and talks like crazy on it. Be interesting to see how it stacks up with yours. There's some other stuff for the plane in that box, too. Gotta be here somewhere............jest not lookin' under the right rock. Actually, I'm not real interested in transmitting - or, especially, receiving - 100 miles or more. It'd drive me nuts in the SoCal environment. Bad enuf now. Lar.
