Good shot, John, I think I may even see Rich Swiderski's fabulous trailer
setup way over on the right in front of the grey building where we had the 1st
Annual Kolb Great Hangar Flyin which included about 10 Kolb diehards, willing to
taste my cookin, and meet some great people ....Isaac and Scooter, Brian, and
Norm were a trip! And matching faces to Kolb listers was wonderful. Hope to
do it again next year.

Flew over to Paul Petty and Charley Harris at Harris Field, last
Saturday.
Took a couple pics on the way.
In contrast to the instrument panel with no electrical power, here is

discover and learn.
Trying to think what that effect is called. Thought it had something
to do with "glory hole" or "into+the glory". Did a google search and
got sexual and religious explanations, but not the correct one we are
looking for.
Maybe someone else can help us out of the proper name for it.

It's called various names, but the more common are "coronal rainbow", a
"glory", or a "cloud halo".
"The 'glory' is made of sunlight scattered back toward you. It's much
smaller than a rainbow -- and it's made by light scattering from the larger
droplets of a cloud, instead of falling raindrops. The glory is round --
like the halo you sometimes see around the sun or moon -- and it comes in
muted rainbow colors."

Go to google.com and type in both words: rainbow glory
There are lots of links. A couple even have video (from a/c) with sound.
Basically, when you sort through some of the technical jargon, the common
reference is to a "round rainbow".
If it weren't raining, I'd be out flying, looking for round rainbows instead
of searching for information about them on the Internet.

I usta have a book by a guy who flew his Cessna Cardinal all over the
ZI, and he mentioned Glorys/ies a lot. I lent (not loaned!) the book,
and of course it went around the corner in a sailboat. He writes for

The book was/is: Chasing the Glory by Michael Parfit. Good read. Camps
out, sleeping in back of Cardinal with bench seat pulled. Just kinda
