Tony Bingelis, in his book "Sportplane Construction Techniques" suggests a
technique that I have found to work great. After you squeeze the terminal
connector, put a dot of solder on the end of the wire where it just pokes
through the terminal. That keeps the other end from getting brittle. Then
slip a piece of heatshrink over the wire and terminal to reinforce the wire
and keep it from flexing where it goes into the terminal. I have had no
wire failures with this method.
Depending on where the wires are going, you can tie them to something near
the terminal connector, that also stops flexing.

Wonder if an equivalent anti-oxident is available off the shelf?
By the way--Av gas is really good as a de-greaser. Lots cheaper than
those spray cans of carb and brake cleaner that we buy. I use Ether
also. Herb in Ky

straightening larger diameter tubing, 1/2", 5/8, etc without kinking is
to bore the same
size hole in a piece of wood , split the wood and use the halves to
squeeze it straight.
-sometimes just one half and a hammer will do the job. -BB, nothing bent

Kolb Mark III for sale. I've posted my Mrk III several times on this list -
which I now have discovered is not the best place to try to sell it. Could
someone tell me where to advertise so that I can get some results?
have it on the ultralight main web site. Help.
Skywaylodge@aol.com.
----------------------------------
it may or may not be the best place to sell it....mostly it comes down to timing.
sometimes i have read post on the list of persons that have wanted to buy
a mark III and at that time no one was selling..... this time it is the opposite.
i have also seen times when things were posted for sale and two people
wanted it.. many times there are people who lurk around the list and dont post
messages.. just be patient... next week someone may join the list looking
for what you are selling...... just post a note every week or so... try not
to be negitive or complaining to the list about how slow the job of selling is.
just a short note "mkIII for sale email for details.... do not archive."
if someone is interested they will send you a note. the other option
is ebay..... if you must have a certain price you can list it as the minimum
reserve.... that way if two people want it they may bid the price up. but
if they dont offer the reserve price you dont have to sell. there is also a
publication called "trade a plane." or clasified sections in "ga news" stop
by your local airport and see if you can get a copy of each to know where
to mail in your add copy and money. maybe you can find them on the internet.
maybe you could buy an add in " kit planes"... or other publications. selling
planes is kind of a small market... be patient.
hope this helps

"Big Lar"
These remarkable pictures were indicative of your portfolio of pictures you
showed me when I visited your high-tech "Electronic Cottage" and Kolb
factory in the desert, in February. I assume you will be bringing your
diesel powered home-on-wheels to Monument Valley next week. I hope you will
bring some of your computer and photo stuff along with pictures. I'll bet
you could display and sell some of your beautiful landscapes at the trading
post. It will be good to see you again and to meet some of the people who
have enriched the Kolb list.

During February and March, I documented a hummingbird raising a family on a
neighbor's porch. Quite a few people have expressed an interest, so here's
the web page I finally got around to building. I hope you all enjoy it - I
sure had fun doing my part. Lar. Do not Archive.

I took a plastic cap from
a spray paint can and put a hole in it and mounted the toggle in there. Works great!
Hey Geo,
I like your thinking , using the inner ring of a cap...I would have saved
$10 bucks if I would have heard about it earlier...
(and it would have been LIGHTER)

Anybody on the list have any first hand experience with the Verner VM1400?
One of the local guys is parting out a T Bird 2 and has a Verner with 50
hours on it for a great price.
But it ain't a good deal if it ain't a good engine.
Anybody have any hands on experience and opinions?

Hi. I was pre flighting my recently purchased Firestar and noticed some movement
where the knuckles for folding the wing are attached to the fuse. there's a
castle nut inside the square tubing with a cotter pin thru it. should there be
any movement at all at this point? Do I tighten this up and replace the pin or
call Kolb for a new bracket? I haven't found anything in the paperwork I got
with the plane.

Dan,
\ How I set mine is...I tighten the castle nut untill the knuckle deal wont
move..then back it out to the first hole I can get a pin thru. It usually
has just enough freedom to allow the wing to pivot when you fold em...and
take them on and off..
as little movement as I can get away with and just so it will rotate around
that bolt is what I like.
