Mornin' all, just found a neat little utility for auto-downloading current
Metar Wx reports off the web. It is at
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/mweather.html
You can readily set it up to fetch the reports from the stations you
choose, and make it display values in any format you choose.
(meters, feet, celsius, centegrade, etc.)

Kolbers,
Due to unforeseen problems I will not be able to attend the factory fly in. I was
really looking forward to it. Please take photos and let me know how it goes.
Hopefully next year Charley and I will be there in Ms. Dixie.
Also thanks for the replies to the fire star question.
Fly safe and have a good time.

Group,
I thought that it should be added that the difference
between the Firestar and the KXP is more than the
number of ribs. There are 3 different Firestars, the
"original", the KX/KXP, and the Firestar I/II. Each of
the 3 have a different fuselage. The first two are no
longer manufactured. The number of ribs has been
covered in other posts.

Hello to all
If you are at the Flyin, look me up and ask about a really cheap way to talk
inflight.
I will be giving some of these away.

Steve,
I can talk to myself in flight all I want and it doesn't cost anything.
However, if you're talking about talking to someone else in 1) The same
aircraft, 2) In another aircraft or 3) Possibly someone on the ground,
that's another whole matter altogether.
I personally like the tin cans with a taught string to communicate with my
student pilots, but I have had some problems with this method conversing
with the airport unicom traffic. As long as I stay in a circular pattern
above the field I have had great success talking to persons on the ground.
It's that air to air stuff I haven't been able to master. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.
Wayne

Wayne,
There are several mfgs that offer small inexpensive systems for bike to bike
or rider to passenger conversations. I set up a dealership for products from
three of these. I will be bringing them to the TNK Flyin to test out. I plan to
give away a few as door prizes. I will let the hard core Kolb drivers tell me
what they like best. You would be able to buy them from me or other sources.
I plan to offer a special discount to Kolblist types. I will post results
after the show.
Again you won't have to buy them from me there are other sources but I will
try to find the best option that everyone likes and share the info.

Gary, FAA.gov should still have an aircraft search feature you can use.
-unless it got registered
out of the US. -BB do not archive

Saw a teaser for Oshkosh highlights on Discovery Wings Thursday @ 8 PM.
Caught a glimpse on the promo of what appeared to be a yellow Kolb taking
off. Might want to watch if you have the Wings station.

Disc/Wings filmed an interview with Homer and Dick Rahill. They cut alot of
what they film at Oshkosh but maybe we will see this.
