The first item was relevant. In the last issue of the mag. congratulations were passed to a pilot who, while flying, had seen a small fire and a group of youths. He contacted the farmer and the police by cell phone. The fire was dealt with and the youths questioned. In passing the author of the article commented that although it was a praiseworthy action, it was illegal to use a cell phone above a thousand feet as it contacted several `nodes` and caused problems. This statement was challenged by a reader and subsequent investigation has revealed that although that certainly used to be the case, changes in technology had solved that problem. The use of cell phones in microlights in flight over here is now acceptable. Presumably this means we can ring each other while we are flying. Wow! Is their no escape from the damned things? Cheers Pat Do not archive ________________________________ Message 4 _____________________________________ Time: 06:48:20 AM PST US From: "Dan Charter" Subject: Kolb-List: ski's --> Kolb-List message posted by: "Dan Charter" I'm about to start building ski's for my Firestar 1. I'm using 3/16 UHMW for the bottoms and aluminum to box in a frame. They'll be 10" wide. What length should be used so I'll stay on top of the snow. My buddy's himax ski's are 4' 6"x 10". It's heavier than my Kolb. What size do you people use? Do not archive. Diablo in the Bay Area of Northern California)? Thanks, Cory --------------------------- it seems to me that if you were to light up cell towers all over the valley and big brother wants to persue it.... you are going to need an witness or at least a good story as to where you were...... now if you are lighting up towere all over the valley and they keep changing. ie you are moving, how are you going to explane that. boyd do not archive ________________________________ Message 6 _____________________________________ Time: 08:11:59 AM PST US From: "Larry Bourne" Subject: Re: Kolb-List: cell phones --> Kolb-List message posted by: "Larry Bourne" At least when flying we don't hafta listen to them blathering away in a restaurant, eh ?? :-) I can't believe the bad manners of some of these people. At the volume they talk at, why do they need a phone ?? Just open the window and yell. Lar. Do not Archive.
