Hi Ron,
I thought I was the last person to know about this :-)
When you copy a long URL address, that you know will wrap over more than one
line in a message, go to http://tinyurl.com and you'll find a box to paste
the long URL. When you click the button to make a TinyURL, it will produce
the short one. It even puts it on the windows clipboard in place of the one
you had so you can just paste it in the message you were writing.
As for "how" they do it, I assume they just store the address you give them,
and link it to the short one they gave you. I assume these time out at some
point, but I can't find anything on the site that mentions it.
Cheers,
Rusty

Hi Lars,
gee you had it easy. When I built an aqualung, from a plan in Practical
Mechanics, they hadn`t invented wet suits.
Not in the UK anyway. There were some vague stories about a marvellous new
suit available in the USA.
In the meantime we had `dry suits` and wore a pile of clothes underneath. I
remember surfacing covered in pretty patterns caused by the pressure on the
creases in the trousers I used to wear.
Oh the good old days???
Cheers

Tom -
I was in the same situation - could not find a hangar to rent at my local
airfield. So I posted an ad on the airport bulletin board offering to share
hangar costs with anyone willing to fit my plane in the unused floorspace of
their hangar. I emphasized the fact that my Mark-III takes up only ONE
SIXTH of the width of a typical hangar, when folded. And to sweeten the
deal, I even offered to pay DOUBLE the hangar rent rate for my spot.
In other words, if my plane occupies a sixth of the floorspace, I would be
willing to pay that owner a THIRD of his monthly hangar rent. This is
possible only because of the Kolb's unique folding wing feature, which
allows my Mark-III to park in only 6.5 feet of hangar width. Within a
month, a guy contacted me, willing to "sell" me his unused hangar space - I
now share a hangar with a prisitne 1952 Pacer.
So, for being willing to fold/unfold my wings each time I fly, I get to
store my plane in a hangar at the airport and pay one-third the cost of a
normal hangar rate. A reasonable tradeoff, in my opinion.

Hi John
While looking at my old Ultralight Flying magazines, I saw your article in the
November 1994 issue GREAT STORY !!
John have you ever considered writing a book about your flying adventures? You
have a great way of expressing your experiences including your disappoints and
rewards, you make the reader feel like he is going along on the adventure.
As you said in the November 1994 article "not everyone can take these trips because
they don't have the money, time, qualifications or whatever";your book would
give these people an opportunity to enjoy the adventures.
I would be the first one to buy the book !

Hi Bill:
Yes, I have considered writing, but haven't found the time or the
gumption to get started.
Thanks for your kind words. I appreciate that.
Bill, hard to believe it has been nearly 11 years since I made that
1994 flight. Time sure is flying.
As far as I know, that flight has never been duplicated, nor has it
ever been out done. I have a feeling, no one will ever out do that
one.
Thanks for the note,
john h
