When I tested the 6000, I left the original ear seals on it. It worked good but I plan to change to the Oregon seals anyway. My point is that even though DRE makes good headsets, better ear seals are available. I also read about the position of the mics in the 6000's, but not 'till after my first flight. Next time, I will have them on with the mic boom on the right. Even with the best ear seals, I have to be careful what sunglasses I wear. Glasses that have thick frames and/or don't fit close to my head will cause a leak that degrades the protection. Bet the fuel burn is up there. -----Original Message----- From: owner-kolb-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-kolb-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of possums Subject: Re: Kolb-List: Engines ? --> Kolb-List message posted by: possums At 09:20 PM 5/8/2005, you wrote: >Anybody feel up to trying one of these engines on a kolb? :-) ~ Earl Power Rating 60.0 HP 43.8 kW - Weight 32.3 lbs ---------------- Yeah - I'll take a dozen of them How many they got that work?? ________________________________ Message 4 _____________________________________ Time: 09:38:07 AM PST US From: Kirby Dennis Contr MDA/AL Subject: Kolb-List: Fuel-Proof Sealer --> Kolb-List message posted by: Kirby Dennis Contr MDA/AL Kolb Friends - I am installing fuel fittings on a gascolator, and need to seal the threads with an appropriate sealing goop. I'm hesitant to use teflon tape, as little pieces are known to shred loose and find their way into carb jets. Someone on the list once mentioned a Permatex product that could be used for gas fittings that is permanently fuel-proof. I went to Napa Auto Parts, and found that there are about a dozen Permatex products available. Most are silicone based. One product claimed to be "fuel resistant." I need a goop that is fuel-PROOF. Does anyone have any recommendations what to use for this purpose? Many thanks - Dennis Kirby Mark-3 in New Mexico do not archive ________________________________ Message 5 _____________________________________ Time: 10:35:32 AM PST US From: "John Hauck" Subject: Re: Kolb-List: Fuel-Proof Sealer --> Kolb-List message posted by: "John Hauck" Dennis/Gang: Check out this thread sealer: http://www.permatex.com/auto/autouh.asp?automotive=yes&f_call=get_item&item_no=56521 john h threads | with an appropriate sealing goop. | Dennis Kirby ________________________________ Message 6 _____________________________________ Time: 01:31:52 PM PST US From: "Bob N."
