Kolbers, Saturday was a great day at Homer Clara's, and they were great hosts.
Those of you who couldn't make it missed a wonderful day with Kolbs everywhere!
I left ealier than most to make the drive (ugh) to Shreveport North for the
Father's Day Fly-In. It was nice to see some of the Kolb contingent represented
there as well. I hated having to drive, and not fly to two fly-ins in one
day, but it beats missing them. It was also great to finally meet some of those
on the list, and continue learning from their experiences. Terry - thanks again
for handling the logistics for Homer's!!(do not archive) Bob Pongracz...Fogelsville,
PA...FireFly project

Patrick et al....
Several guys here have mentioned that they felt the glide ratio was better with
the engine off than at idle yet I did not find that at all. I wonder what might
account for the discrepancy? It seems to me that an engine that idles at
2000 rpm actually produces thrust. Mine will creep on pavement if I'm not holding
brake. Maybe it's just a perception thing. An unplanned deadstick landing
is pretty exciting thing so maybe it's just hard to judge glide ratio at a time
like that. I wasn't watching my vario at the time but it sure felt like a
steeper descent in the seat of my pants. Anybody else have any input on this subject?
