He would get spikes over 400 and then drop to normal ....all we did was bend the sparkplug gaskets away from the head and "bingo"....back to normal.......????? Ed in Western NY do not archive

Thankee for the note, sir... actually, I did check the two Dykes rings for gap clearance and they were both as new... (.013) . Since I am going back into it, will check the bottom ones as well. I did not gauge the run-out on the cylinder walls, but will do so when I get the jugs off. Right now, I think the biggest problem will be to locate the box containing my elderly hone... will put new stones on it in honor of this event. Will leave a nice cross-hatch on 'em. I'll see if I can find it in the archives. In the meantime, have a good trip and come home safe. I'm off to Michigan for the month of August (good time NOT to be in Texas) for my vacation. I'd love to do the trip in the Mk2 but I just started flying again after an extended layoff for illness since April.(I have RA) I was going to get my wife to ground crew for me along the way and spend nights in motels near whatever airports I landed for the night. I could travel light in the airplane and have a car wherever I stopped. Maybe next year. Steve GeoR38@aol.com wrote: In a message dated 7/3/2005 1:28:11 P.M.
