Hi Bill,
great parachuting site.
While I was doing my stitch for Queen and Country I volunteered for the
Airborne Artillery. Just a matter of jumping from a plane with a lorry, a
limber full of ammunitiion and a 25 pounder howitzer.
By the time they actually wanted me to join that mob I had a tape up and a
girl friend so I turned it down.
Judging from my score that was a good call. The Germans may have won the
war.

For anyone diving into the elctrical realm, check out the above two
sites, especially the latter. If, after searching the e-mail archives, you
still have a question, post it to the group..very helpful folks on the list.
As for the breaker on the alternator, you'll want to aprise yourself of
over-volt (OV) protection as well. The archives above will help.

Hi Gang,
I am back on the list and have my Kolb Classic torn apart thanks to
Hurricane Rita. Rita broke the levies and submerged my hangar in 9 ft. of brackish
stinking water. I sent my parachute for repack ($840.oo plus) and all the
instruments back to the factory. So far the altimeter and airspeed can't be
repaired. I think the Rotax 582 is undamaged as I had the plane sitting on it's
trailer and water just reached the muffler.
I would appreciate any comments on EIS verses standard round gages to
include cost and instillation.

EIS is a great instrument. Easy to hook up and understand, the learning
curve is pretty straightforward.
I have installed both, EIS is simpler, especially used with a Hot Box.

Kolbers, opportunities for flying are dwindling up north. (right Mike?)
And I have
been curious how the plane would do with some weight in the passenger
seat. My luck the guy who rents the farm land broke down his tank
truck 200' from the north end. Oh well, I should be off by then,
right?
I strapped 80 lbs of salt bags in and gave it a shot. Lifted into
ground
effect at a reasonable distance considering the grass is getting pretty
long. A little wind shift momentarily halted the climb and then,
hurrah!
a decent climb over interstate 90.
The next flight will be with 120 lbs ( 3 bags) and hopefully the truck
will
be out of there and the wind from where I'm going.

Hey Bob/Guys,
I hear ya....I'm probly done flying til next Spring.....that open
cockpit was pretty COLD last
weekend.....
You brought something up that made me think.....What "IS" the name of your plane.....?
120lbs.......couldn't you just find some girl named "Sandy" , and give her a ride.....it
would save hauling
those sand tubes around......
Big Lar wrote me, He's needing Our fingers crossed while he tries out his new
bearing....
We're pray'n for ya Big Lar !
Maybe I'll push the plane out this weekend and take some measurements for the
full enclosure.....
"IF" the weather is decent.....
There's always renting the PA-12 thru the Winter......Maybe Ski endorsement
Gotta Fly...

I guess it might be easier to find a "sandy" than a "salty".
So far my choice of lady pax will have to be on the scrawny side.
"monica" would end up on the top of a truck on I90.
I haven't gotten around to painting my nose art yet but her name
is "Feenix" after the flight of the phoenix because it's made
from used parts and Phoenixville, PA was close to home.
Today was actually quite pleasant. Wing fold day will be
sometime near 1 nov.
Lar, keep us informed. Maybe we'll all come out and stay a
few days at the super 8 and watch you work.

Let me know when, and come on. You bringing Jack with you ??
Hard to picture the weather you and Mike are talking about. The long, hot
summer is finally over - I think - and temps are in the 80's during the day.
Sure is nice. Oh, man, is it nice.
I put the Speedi-Sleeve on the redrive input on Wed., and hope to get the
whole thing back on Vamoose and fire it up this weekend. Maybe. I have
cousins visiting from Canada right now, and time is limited. I'll keep ya
posted. Lar. Do not Archive.
