Just right for a quiet, bump free flight around the surrounding countryside. No such luck. I have been shaking a tin most of the morning at the local mall on behalf of my Rotary Club and my back is giving me gee up. Just finished peeling the potatoes, polishing the glasses, putting the wine where it will slowly warm up ready for the feasting. Put my present to Wendy on the tree. Made sure that the painting of a Lancaster which she has bought me for my present is securely tucked away. The tree is almost buried by a pile of presents for the children and grandchildren. Christmas cards are hanging in great loops all along the beams in my lounge. The fire is laid and piles of logs in reserve. The mistletoe is hanging over the door. We are about ready. Hope you are too. Best wishes to everyone on the list. Have a great Christmas and a New Year with many hours of happy flying. The trailer actually weighs 3600 lbs but you would never know it by the way it trails, feels light but is very solid. Torflex info: The Torflex suspension system is a torsion arm type suspension which is completely self contained within the axle tube. It attaches directly to the trailer frame using brackets which are an integral part of the axle assembly. The Torflex axle provides improved suspension characteristics relative to leaf spring axles through the unique arrangement of a steel torsion bar surrounded by four natural rubber cords encased in the main structural member of the axle beam. The wheel/hub spindle is attached to a lever, called the torsion arm, which is fastened to the rubber encased bar. As load is applied, the bar rotates causing a rolling/compressive resistance in the rubber cords. This action provides the same functions as conventional sprung axles with several operating advantages including independent suspension. These can be installed on almost any trailer frame. Merry Christmas, or Happy Holidays to everyone else, too. Hope your holiday goes as well as Pat's. Without the 'gee up' back, of course. :-) Lar. Do not Archive. My cousins from Canada are visiting, and a full schedule is in the works. Weather in Furnace Springs is CAVU, no wind, temps at 7:00 AM are 50 F., and looking to rise to around 75 - 80. A nice hike to the mountains above Bob Hope's house later this AM, and a dinner get together later. Sweet. Tomorrow, I'll introduce my Minnesota snowbird neighbors to the joys of roasted chestnuts - if I can find any today. A sightseeing flight is planned for tomorrow AM to introduce a 1st time visitor to the desert to the joys of flying. Congratulations to Dave for a great looking MKIII. One of these days I am going to get to see it too. I have been using ear plugs under my headphones but can't stand not hearing the radio and passengers. I just started using ear phones like the ones that are used by Ipod users in noisy environments. The ear phones are the kind that are placed in your ear canal. They reduce outside noise the same way ear plugs do (but not quite as much) by plugging the ear canal. I plug the ear phones and the head phones into the intercom. With the noise canceling headphones on over the ear phones it is quiet AND you can hear. Note! you will want to turn the radio way down. It's not pretty but it works. Also I got my doctor to prescribe noise canceling headphones. Now I'm trying to get my insurance to pay for them. The insurance covers hearing aids. When I called them they said I need a procedure code and seems like a treatment code. With that info it is no problem. From what I hear head phones are much cheaper than hearing aids and some of the newer noise canceling headphones should keep me from needing hearing aids a bit longer.
