It is a little difficult to inspect a tail boom near the center. Currently mine has a coating of oil inside from an early in flight oil leak (6 gts in two short hops). Aside from corrosion, dents in some areas are more important than others. Anything close to the cage is worse than damage back by the tail by virtue of the leverage involved. If you have ever taken a chunk of boom tube or spar and bent it to destruction, it sure breaks easily when bent a few times. When using wrenches on the prop or rear of the engine I plop an old rug on the boom tube to compensate for my two left hands. I've been thinking about setting her in the back seat with "two" leashes one on each side...giving her a little freedom but keeping her in check... I've also been thinking about her riding in front , between my legs... But I think for now she feels a little secure in the box...She sure doesn't have any problem going in it....in fact I have a hard time getting her back OUT to put her sweater on.....I have to just walk away...then she tries to follow.... You said your dog is happy to wait for you....I used to leave mine in the truck too , but on longer flights that wouldn't be very good... and now...She just wants to go! Gotta Fly... I might try to license it later but I am having trouble soaking up all the complicated BS with the new rules and being legal. I swore when I sold the Pacer, big brother would never know about my next plane!
