John and all, that guy Will really gets around. We had fun kicking
tires today at the H.A.G.
museum at Geneseo, NY. -About 10 minutes in a slow Kolb south of my
place.
That's his flying host,Thom Riddle on the left.

Thanks for the videos. Been a while since I have flown the Etowah
River and the Cartersville, GA, area. Gave me a nice refresher of the
area.

Good old Canadas. Never pursued them but flew 300 hours one summer on
Great White Pelican air strike survey in Cessna 150 and did
roundy-rounds with the big birds as they were gaining altitude to go
back to their roost on Gunnison Island in Great Salt Lake. They accepted
the Taylorcraft that day, just kept milling.
A friend caught nine Canada Geese coming his way right in dark after an
engine overhaul in his Cessna 185. Full power got him down at a nearby
airport just ahead.

Here's another one I shot on the way home.
Gotta check out those VG's if you haven't already.
If you want to see the Original it's about 44 MB.... ouch!
That's why this site's so good - you lose some resolution
but doesn't take 15 minutes to download the video.

Hi Possum
Thanks for the great "Duck Hunting" video! I guess you don't have to
worry about game wardens up there. :-)
I found out that when the Paper Mill smoke is going straight up, like it
is on the power plant that it means I am in for some great flying. (If I
had an engine out it would be nice to have that many places to land when
I fly, my area is mostly covered with trees.)

I have the plane packed and ready for departure early in the morning, if
the morning fog is favorable. I plan to circle the Appalachian
Mountains enroute to TNK. I will leave TN heading south through Jasper,
GA then up the east side of the mountains through the Shanendoa valley,
Smoketown, PA, Albany and Buffalo, NY, Columbus, OH then south to
London. The weather looks like I may spend Tuesday watching it rain but
it should pass on through,
Hope to see Ya'll in London

Hi Bob D:
That's a good one. I turned my volume up a bit to hear the STE
exhaust bark. Sounds good.
Thanks,

Sounds like quite a trip for a "Kolb" Steve,
What are you flying and when will you be at Smoketown?

John,
Had the camera off and saw you coming, by the time I turned the switch and
powered up that's all I could get. Too bad I didn't get it all. The sun and
the monument peaks in the background worked out well, nice to hear from you.
Take care, Bob D.

Dear Kolbers:
My local flying club, the Greater Thumb Ultralight Flyers, successfully
concluded our major event of the year yesterday. We call it our Fall Tour
and we do what for most of us constitutes a significant cross-country trip.
This year we began at Frankenmuth, flew to a cider mill in St Johns that has
a runway where we ate lunch, then on to Clare, to Pinconning, and finally
back to Frankenmuth. Of course, everyone had to fly from and to their home
fields as well.
For me the flight was just over 330 miles and constituted a wee bit over 6
hours of stick-time. We had four Kolbs representing an interesting spectrum
of models, in my opinion. There was a Firefly, a Firestar, my own Mark II,
and a Mark IIIx.
If you'd like to see some pictures of these Kolbs during the trip, they can
be found here:
http://www.kfackler.com/kolb/tour/
I must warn you that the only thing I've done to them is some quick
cropping, but the pictures are still fairly large, as are the file sizes.
Using cable modem or DSL they shouldn't be too bad. For dial-up, it may be
more trouble than it's worth. I leave that to you.
There is also a sub-folder containing photos of the non-Kolb airplanes that
participated. Feel free to peruse them as well. Its URL is, of course, this:
http://www.kfackler.com/kolb/tour/other/
Enjoy!

P.S. It was four years ago today that I first flew my Mark II. Happy
Anniversary!
