Hi, Need a bit of help! I am trying to get my wiring back in control and neatened up for my inspection. I found a bunch of wires that were not connect to anything at one end and apparently are not doing anything. The only thing that isn't working on the plane is the "tiny teach". Can anyone tell me what the wire that I have my finger on does? I have looked in my manuals and cannot find a reference to it. The original wiring dates back to 97. Apparently I shot off my finger without thinking it through. I did finally find that it is the tack wire. However when I hooked up the EIS it said to use one of the yellow and black wires coming out of the rectifier rather than the gray wire as you would then be able to do a dual magi check. Apparently it serves no useful purpose in this application. Sorry! The "Tiny Tach" is triggered by a wire wrapped around one of the spark plug wires between the coil and the plug cap. When you do a mag check, you get to see the rpm's of one mag, the other you listen to, and see if it sounds about right. The thick pink wire in your picture looks like a good candidate for the pickup application. Does it go to the "Tiny Tach?" GPS coordinates are located here, on the left side of the page: http://www.flysmla.com/home.htm My mkIII, Miss P'fer (pee fur)(p'fer plane) is in my hanger and her engine is still in the basement, but we are going anyhow. The old 5th wheel is hitched up and ready to go in the morning. We are heading down to enjoy the flyin, airplane or not. John W is flying in from Texas, James Tripp is flying down from Wetumpka, Alabama, Steven Green may fly down from Etowah, Tennessee, Paul Petty and his pappy in law are driving over from Raleigh, Mississippi, bet John Cooley will be there too. Hope to see ya'll all tomorrow. john h mkIII w/remote power plant ;-) DO NOT ARCHIVE ________________________________ Message 7 _____________________________________ Time: 06:46:53 PM PST US From: "John Hauck" Subject: Kolb-List: Flyin at Lucedale, MS --> Kolb-List message posted by: "John Hauck" Let me add a note: The grass strip at Ronnie Smith's farm and South Mississippi Light Aircraft is 3,000 feet long. So....if you want to fly in in a "real" airplane, you will be more than welcome. A Twin Otter flies sky divers out of there, and more than once twins have attended the flyin. john h ________________________________ Message 8 _____________________________________ Time: 07:29:00 PM PST US From: ElleryWeld@aol.com Subject: Re: Kolb-List: kolb cabin heat Here are the pictures of the Cabin Heater that I make for the 447 and the 503 engines you other cold weather flyers will be more comfortable in the cold flying weather with this setup and this is worth a bunch more than you just paid for it here I am getting heat in the cockpit with the valve closed in this picture I am letting the heat escape to the atmosphere, see the cable attachment point to control the system and the valve open heres the other end of that same cable in the cockpit in a handy place skeet tube going to where you want the heat I leave this system on all year and it doesn't affect engine temps in hot weather Ellery's Heater system for any fan cooled engine ________________________________ Message 9 _____________________________________ Time: 07:38:50 PM PST US From: Subject: Re: Kolb-List: kolb cabin heat What about those of us with dual carbs? -Ken Fackler Kolb Mark II / A722KWF Rochester MI do not archive ________________________________ Message 10 ____________________________________ Time: 08:11:41 PM PST US From: ElleryWeld@aol.com Subject: Re: Kolb-List: kolb cabin heat if you make the same heater system idea I make you can angle the heater output tubes to miss the carbs its not much of a problem as you can fit it to your application I have posted PicS on the Photo share and they should be coming soon Ellery in Maine do not archive ________________________________ Message 11 ____________________________________ Time: 10:43:31 PM PST US From: "Larry Cottrell" Subject: Re: Kolb-List: what does it do? Yes it does. I checked it today and every thing seems ok, but I replaced the ground wire to see if that was the problem.
