I was amazed at how many I found and even more amazed at some of the very nice things Listers have been saying about the Lists and how valuable the they are to them. I've included quite a few of these nice comments below. Please read over some of this great Lister feedback. No doubt you will find that you agree with at least one or two of those comments - maybe all of them! If you find that do, won't you please make a Contribution to support these Lists today!! Its fast and easy with the Matronics List Contribution Web Site: http://www.matronics.com/contribution Don't forget that I've now fully implemented the new *List Fund Raiser Squelch* feature that will automatically intercept any future iterations of my "Please Contribute" messages -- that is, *once you've made YOUR Contribution*! How cool is that? (Make sure the email address you enter along with your Contribution matches exactly your subscribed List email address. An exact match is how it works.) Thank you for your generous Contributions this year and for all the wonderful comments!! I had a Hummer for 12 years and put 550 hours on it, it was a good little airplane. It was dependable and reliable, and had fair control authority. Then I sold the Hummer, got the J-6, sold it, got the MKIII. Years later, the Hummer showed up again, the guys who had purchased it asked me to get it back in license. I did, and then flew it to it's new home. Wow. Compared to the control authority of my MKIII, flying the Hummer took on a sort of vagueness. Last year I got to fly an original Firestar that was under 300 pounds, maybe even part 103 legal. It felt about the same way. Flew a Drifter a couple years ago, it was like a big Hummer, better control authority, more solid but similar, not as civilized as a Kolb. Have several hours in an Aircam, it flies rock solid, and also feels a lot heavier than a Kolb. If money is no object and the goal is a pure camera platform, get an Aircam. If you want a camera platform that is practical and pleasant to fly, get a MKIII and make two sets of doors, one set partially cut away for taking pictures without reflections in them. David Arthur Pelletier, 68, and his passenger Michael Francis Maikowski, 54 , of Kent, Wash., didn't show any signs of life when first responders arrived .. A Falcon Way resident called 911 at 10:27 a.m. to report the crash after sh e and her husband saw the Kolb MK3 wreckage in their driveway. Sally Strickland-McAleenan and Ken McAleenan said they didn't see the actua l crash, but they heard a loud noise. After Strickland-McAleenan reported the crash, she rushed to help the victims. "There was absolutely no life in there," she said. "It is so sad." She remained on the scene until the first Chino Valley Fire engine arrived, she said. A couple of other witnesses were in the area, she said, and they told her that they saw the plane flying northwest toward nearby mountains, and as it made a turn it dove into the ground. Strickland-McAleenan said she and her husband were familiar with the aircraft because Pelletier often flew in the area. According to Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor, the aircraft took off from the airstrip branching off Falcon Way. Strickland-McAleenan said, "This is a grandfathered airstrip. It has been there since the World War II" when the military used it to practice touch and go landings and take-offs, she said. "Most of the people like the airstrip and use it quite often." As he watched authorities remove the bodies from the wreckage, Paulden resident Ron Stoks said, "It looks like a hard hit." Stoks heard of the crash from a friend and rushed to the scene to see it fo r himself. He said he knew Pelletier for 10 years. "He just got a sport-pilot license," said Stoks, who also owns an experimental aircraft. "He was flying a lot here. He had fun giving rides." Because his friend was safety-minded, Stoks said, he wouldn't board the plane if he thought that it had a mechanical problem. A few days before the October air show at the Prescott Airport, Stoks said, he and Pelletier flew in the DC3 with William "Billy" Friedman, a 40-year pilot who died in the Oct. 18 plane crash that also killed four other peopl e on board. Coincidently, Friedman saw the Sept. 2 plane crash that killed two adults and a teenager near the Pi=F1on Oaks subdivision in Prescott. The National Transportation Safety Board is still investigating the previou s two incidents. Gregor said a Scottsdale-based FAA crew and NTSB will investigate this incident also. I don't know how big (heavy) the passenger was but it is my and most others that he made a low level turn and just stalled and spun in. He only had a 282 Rotax on it. It went in straight down. No chance for his chute. Since he was in the pattern, I doubt that they were more than4-500 feet high. our field is 4500 feet.
