I guess i better go take a few more measurments of the plane... -------- Scott www.ill-EagleAviation.com do not archive Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=123870#123870

icrashrc, If you are looking for a trailer, a couple of days ago I posted dimensions and photos of an enclosed trailer I have for sale. I just used it to haul a FS from South Carolina to Buffalo, NY. See my recent post for dimensions and photos. I don't know if a MkIII will fit but there was plenty of room for the FS. One of the photos shows the FS inside. This FS has longer than standard gear legs so the wheels are wider than standard and there is a lot of room side to side either fore or aft of the wheel wells. -------- Thom in Buffalo N197BG FS1/447 do not archive Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=123884#123884

Ellery, Mine has the aileron actuation arms just below the engine mount roughly parallel to the bottom chord of the wing or top of the cage. Is this what you are talking about? I think on later Firestars (KXP? or FS II?) they run below the cage like the FireFly. Is there still another type? -------- Thom in Buffalo N197BG FS1/447 do not archive Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=123891#123891

No no Richard, it's Klotz synthetic is the oil of choice for the Rotax 2-stroke. There's very little wear with this oil and it's super clean inside and on the plugs. I'm not that rich. Went to the Klotz webpage, and the cheapest Klotz 2-cycle oil I could find was $11.41 a quart. So unless you have some inside connection, I think I'll stay with Phillips Injex at $2.36 a quart, thanks anyway. And that's delivered to my door, if you buy a case at a time, the local distributor delivers it for free. Klotz and all oils are getting expensive like gasoline. I buy the Klotz in bulk from the local dealer for $22/gallon and it lasts a long time. Ralph B -------- Ralph B Original Firestar 20 years flying it Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=124004#124004

I always had the same problem when I hard mounted it to the frame. You could always duck tape it to your head or I've found - most of the vibration goes away when you turn you engine off, albeit for a short while.

    From: "John Williamson" <kolbrapilot1@tx.rr.com>
For all those Kolb fliers that missed this Fly-in, "Shame on You." John B and his whole gang put on an excellent affair. -Great flying. -Great food. -Great people. -Great place to sleep and shower. -Almost Great weather. The only down side I had for the Fly-In was finishing 3rd in the shortest landing contest with the Kolbra. We had the following aircraft at Nauga Field. 4 Kolb MarkIII Classic's. 1 Kolb MarkIII Xtra. 1 Kolb Kolbra. 1 MiniMax. 1 Helicycle helicopter. On Saturday for lunch, EAA Chapter 244 put on their "Catfish Fry" at the False River Airport that most of us flew over to enjoy. Gosh, John W You forgot to mention meeting Dorothy, "The Queen of Nauga Field". I think I can take John H next year on the shortest landing distance by: - Eating more, so the plane won't roll as far. - getting more comfortable with 2 notches of flaps. - learning how to land with wheels locked. Strong rumor of rule violation? We had the best time. Distracted a lot of folks, with a lot on their mind, in a good way. Everyone home safe and that is the best part. Hope everyone enjoyed themselves as much as we did. Thanks so much to everyone that attended. Planning the next event, stay tuned. -------- Thanks too much, John Bickham Mark III-C "Using my Repairman Certificate" St. Francisville, LA Do Not Archive Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=124028#124028 Attachments: http://forums.matronics.com//files/nauga_7_2007_fa_061_185.jpg http://forums.matronics.com//files/nauga_7_2007_fa_049_498.jpg

I have tried putting a bit of stiff foam under the camera, wind has been blowing too hard to make it fun, so I am biding my time waiting for a bit of calm. I have a Sony High 8 camera, so I had a lot of batterys that fit the camera. Most of them will last the Sony for as much as four hours. Man that thing eats batteries like candy. I had hoped that I would be able to smooth the plane out with balancing the prop. It is balanced but there is still enough vibration that it over powers the stabilization feature. I stuck the camera to the side of my headset, and got a great view of the hinge in the windscreen and the heater tube. I am a bit afraid that the duct tape would pull out my whiskers when I took it off. :-) Not only that, I find that I am a good pilot in that my head any eyes are scanning all over the place and I get a bit seasick when trying to watch the video.
