News report today.
A small engineering works in a little village about 20 miles from my
home has built a `sky car`.
It is basically a road legal dune buggy with a large parafoil fitted. I
believe that the engine drives the wheels on the ground and a prop while
in the air.
The team have just returned home from a real `sky drive` adventure. They
started from London with a big press covered event a short while ago and
and drove and flew for 4000 miles to Timbuctoo. They came home
yesterday.
No doubt there will be further details later on.

Pat,
That is in interesting vehicle for sure and has been in the aviation news
for awhile. I knew they had begun the journey but I didn't know they had
completed it.

I also have contemplated a fix for the angle behind the door on a
MkIII. The idea of a little air-turning gizmo sticking out
could work but seems unappealing. The easy one would be a slab of
foam board attached to the fabric and carved to
provide a better turn. A little goop and surface tape around the
edges would do the job. Laminate the outer surface
with some fine cloth and epoxy and then paint to match. Weight would
be small, more than made up for by efficiency.

Bob, Take a look at what the BD-4 guys do at the windshield posts. Kind of

Subject: | Nauga Field NOTAMs (LS35) |
For any that may visit, a little heads up.
There have been some changes around Nauga Field.
1) Ronnie has run a new H2O line. The camp is now on parish (county) water.
No more high mineral well H2O. There is a little bit of settling still going
on which is creating a nose over hazard as you turn off the runway to parking.
I'm filling it as it settles.
2) Also been doing some logging. This has left the powerline on the SE end seriously
exposed and a hazard to those that are unaware. I'm working on getting
some markers for the powerlines. May be a little while to get them up. See
picture.
3) Armadillo has had his way with the runway and left a bunch of divots. He has
been dealt with. See picture.
4) This winter beavers built a dam which has slowed the already poor drainage.
Field is soft. One beaver now a pelt and dam is currently burning.
Call if you plan on visiting for updated information.

I've done it again! Something went through the prop. I haven't figured what it
was yet. This happened after a carb sync was completed. I was fiddling with
some stuff and may have left something loose up there.
Now I have ding in my warp and a hole in the top of my right flap to patch.
As far as the Warp, I'm not sure how to proceed. I think I can just press the
bulge back to shape under the tape and be OK. Any experience or suggestions appreciated.
Working on patch on Aerothane. Just trying to getting "patches" ready for MV.
Need to get some extended butt time. Hopefully that will be the only weak link.

Sounds great.
I know you wish that damn power line was out of there. Looks high enough to
land under it now that those tall trees are gone. Really opened up that
area.
Water sounds good. Can we take a shower at the cabin now instead of the
fire house?

How large, or how small, is the hole in the flap?
If you have a nice vinyl decal/sticker, you can stick that over the hole and
save yourself a lot of time and effort.
If not, patch it like you would polytone. Polytak will stick to the
aerothane without a lot of prep. About all I do is clean it good with
Polyfiber Paint Cleaning Solvent. I usually use round patches cut with
pinking shears. Doping and finish paint, I mask off square. If you don't
point out the boo boo, no one will ever know the difference.
I've still got urethane tape on all three blades of my Warp covering dings.
John W was kind enough to bring the tape with him to MV, then attached the
tape for me. It is still on there, although it needs to be removed and the
blades repaired and repainted. I have repaired blades, per Warp Drive
instructions, in Arlington, WA, while on a long 1994 flight. Used 100LL to
clean up the dings, then mixed up some JB Weld with a plastic picnic knife
and filled the dings. Next morning took some fine wet dry paper and
contoured and finish sanded the repairs. Worked like a champ.
I got work to do to to get ready for MV and beyond. Kinda waiting on some
decent weather so work under my shade tree.

The carb sync is proving to be hazardous to props [Evil or Very Mad] That makes
3 of us now victims of this, You, John H, and Myself. If you call Daryl
at Warp Drive, he is the expert and will tell you the best way to repair that
prop.

I put a few VGs on the side (rear edge of the doors) of my MKIIIC a few
years ago. I didn't effect the speed but it did reduce the noise from
turbulent air hitting the side of the rear cage. My cage is fully enclosed
like John H's plane.

Boy these guys are getting soft. Next they will want "hot" water for

We have all the rest of that stuff already. Actually, the ATV ride to the
fire house was the only inconvenience we had to endure during the last two
Nauga Flyins.
