I bought a throttle cable kit for a HKS from jerry at greensky at 81
hrs -yesterday - the
cable broke . lucky for me , I was doing a touch and go and was
climbing through about
50 ft. when it let go and I had plenty of runway left. the engine went
to idle I landed ,end of
problelm except for a long push to get off the runway. I haven't found
why it broke.when i do
i'll post it. May go back with a larger cable

I'm deeply saddened to learn of Homer Kolb's passing! His contributions to affordable
aviation will live on as long as we have freedom of flight.
I sure wish he would have been able to join us at one of the MV gatherings so us
Westerners could have met him.
His obituary tells a lot about Homer Kolb.... his contributions are many but he
remained well grounded in his faith and his family to the end.
Condolences to his family and close friends.
I hope the weather cooperated for the missing man fly-over!

John,
John,
Met Bro Jim at the memorial service today, but saw you only in the
air. I want to personally thank you for your special part in the
memorial service to honor of our flying Patriarch, Mr.Homer E Kolb.
God speed on your trip home.

Subject: | Re: Twinstar plans needed |
Open cockpit with a small nose fairing big enough for two sets of feet and a few
instruments.
UPDATE: I now have the plans, thanks to Jean, and I'd be happy to email them and
the builder's manual, except for pages 32-33, to whomever needs them. Why?
Because they're MINE, and I will KEEP them Ha HAha HA [Twisted Evil] ! No,
really, they're just missing. And they're semi-important too: little things
like engine installation and something odd like Final Wing Rigging and Lift Struts,
whatever that might be.
I also have some really old Second Chantz documentation if anyone's interested.
Actually I still have it even if no one's interested. Doesn't do me much good
without the chute though.
One more Q: throughout the plans (thanks again, Jean) some parts are numbered.
I'm guessing these are parts that came with the original kit that therefore didn't
need to be fabricated by the builder. Did I guess right? Does someone
have a numbered list of what these refer to?
Michael
Oooh one more thing. Anyone have floats for this bird they'd be willing to part
with? I'm particularly interested in the Full Lotus mono, but all options including
amphib are being considered at this point. Any advice from experience
one way or another would also be appreciated.

Frank, This is something I've thought about since I started flying the HKS.
I think I'm going to get the 912 cable linkage and install it this winter.
It works as an aircraft should and sends the engine to full power if the
throttle cable breaks.
