I can't say for sure about the Bings on the HKS but the Bing 64 carbs on the 912
series, you can move the lower end of the spring to switch the spring action
direction. I do this when installing new cables to make sure the throttles are
closed against the idle stop during initial connection of the cable, then move
them back to the normal hold open position.
Ever try to push a rope?
If you want the cable to push the throttle against spring tension, the throttle
cable should be the solid wire type. For pulling against the tension spring the
wire rope type can be used and is more flexible.

Morning Jim H/Gang:
All went well yesterday. Dick Rahill and I, probably the two oldest factory pilots
(in age and time with the Kolb Company) completed our mission for our friend
Homer Kolb. I flew lead and was also the missing man in our two ship formation
of my mkIII and Dick's J-5.
Departed Homer's for Alabama at 0645 EDST this morning. Just had coffee and breakfast
at the airport in York, PA. Have about 9 more hours flying to get back
to Gantt IAP, Alabama.
Engine and aircraft are preforming flawlessly. Weather looks good up here, but
have not checked it further to the SW.
Take care,
john h

We had several great tributes to dad at the funeral services but having Dick and
John flying around, dad's FireStar and his Waterloo Boy in front of the church
were really special. To top it all off, John and Dick flew a missing man with
perfect timing. Dad was lowered into the grave with a prayer and just as the
prayer was finished, we saw a high speed, downwind pass with John splitting
off over the grave site. It was awesome and I'm sure I wasn't the only one who
got goosebumps. Thank you all so much for your thoughts, prayers and kind words
for dad. We had a video and picture montage playing during the viewing and
many of your comments from this thread were interleaved, which made it extra special.
THANK YOU John and Dick and thank you all - he will be greatly missed!
Marcus Kolb, son of Homer Kolb, man of God

Subject: New Camera
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IotKGVi21Z8
I have a new camera that I am trying.
It is a "Spy" type camera that a friend has been using on his RC
airplanes. The format is the same as that used by my digital one and the
same size as well. I took one of my old caps that is too dirty to wear
in public anymore and riveted a holder for it. The only problem is of
course that head movements are quite a bit faster than the eye is used
to.
I shot several clips and have put together two of them. I spent all day
yesterday trying to upload them to my blog, which is just not going to
happen. They are too big, but You Tube seems to have no problem with it.
The quality of the clips is terrible, some of the problems with it is
shooting through the Lexan, and the rest is the loss of uploading to the
internet.

they didn't quarantine me.

I thought the quality was good. If you could ease back on the engine
noise and bring up the music?
How do you pronounce that river?

Frank, I haven't researched it to find if it is a Rotax part or a Bing part.
I'll give Charlie at the Bing Agency in Council Grove a call in the morning
and let you know.

Rick, thanks for your help . The way its rigged now , when the cable
breaks it's the same as a total engine failure. I want to change to
something better.

Frank, glad you are safe.
I used to make throttle cables and such for motorcycles.
I think aircraft Spruce may have the tools and parts you need.
I had great success with dipping the part in some chemical they offered (an acid?)
and then into a solder pot.
Just fray the ends so they can't fit through the fittings and fill the void with
the solder.

Here is the link for the camera. it is 648 X 480 resolution which is the
same as the digital camera that I have been using. There is a USB port
and cable that comes with it that just plugs into your computer, and the
file plays on Windows Media player. It is supposed to record from 1.5 to
2 hours of video. The sites shows that they are out of them at the
moment, which was the case when I first got interested, so they
apparently fly off the shelves pretty fast. $49.00 is the cost.
I have been experimenting with a foam holder that mounts on my door that
I think might do the job for me, I will try it either this evening or
tomorrow morning depending on the weather.
If you are using a wind screen instead of a full enclosure the hat would
work just fine.
The river is pronounced as "O wah ee". Some early emigrants from Hawaii
were herding sheep in the area and thought that it reminded them of
home. Since early settlers were apparently as bad at spelling as I am,
(had to call the wife to help) it ended up as Owyhee. Oh, they were
later killed by Indians, unknown if it had anything to do with what they
called the river.

Can you provide details on where you got the camera, make, model,
cost, etc., and what device was being used to record it?
Thx!

If anyone is looking around for a solder pot, DO NOT go to an aircraft
supply outfit for it, go to an electronics supplier. I got exactly the same
solder pot for about $30 less. Yes the flux used is an acid flux. See if you
can find a local stained glass shop for it, otherwise shipping companies
want a hazardous material fee that jacks up the shipping cost, too.

My pot was created out of a spare piece of AL tube and judicious use
of a propane torch...not too much heat, just enough to keep the
solder shiny. All of $1.00 invested.

Thom, No need to push with a cable, just make the change from pulling the
