Throughout September, Untermeyer will wear an ankle bracelet 24/7. Anyone can track
his whereabouts by going to his campaign Web site and following.

Chris,
Can you tell us what rpm and airspeed are you getting at wide-open-throttle in
straight and level flight with that prop?

Allow me to offer some clarification, based on my experience:
I fold/unfold the wings of my Mark-III each time I fly. Takes me 20
minutes, solo. Granted, the process might save five minutes with a helper,
but the truly wonderful thing about the design of all the Kolbs is the
one-man setup.
In fact, I find this is one of the best design features for me, as I share a
hangar with a GA airplane, and the only way my Mark-III can fit is with the
wings folded. It's a very worthwhile feature for me, as it allows me to get
away with paying only a one-fourth share for hangar rent!
There are several home-brewed designs for a tail dolly, which makes ground
handling much easier. See George Alexander's excellent web site for a few
ideas.
And so, Brian - this is just one more reason why you should get a Kolb! I
hope you make the right choice!

I own a MKIII and unfold/fold it every time I fly. I also find it very easy to
push around on the ground especially with a full swivel tail wheel. Because
I fold every time, I only pay 1/3 hanger rent. Any end hanger in a row of "T"
hangers is a good candidate to share with someone.

Pat
My sympathies in your having bad wx drag you over the coals. Bummer!
Good thing we can't do anything about the wx, or we'd bust our butts
trying -- but enjoy the coast anyway. Isn't it getting coolish?
Years ago I even tried taping a couple cow-magnets to my fuel line
(car) and it had exactly the effect I thought it would. Zilch!
Have fun,
Russ

My 582 grayhead has the green antifreeze in it. Someone told me this is the wrong
stuff to be using. I called Lockwood and they recommend rinsing it out and
using Penzoil Dex-Cool, the orange stuff. The guy at the auto part store said
only the yellow kind would mix ok with a motor that had been run with the green.
If the remnants aren't boiled or steamed out, the orange and green would form
a mud that could not be cleaned out.
Recommendations?

Jason,
Please tell us more about your engine.
Horse Power?
Weight of engine? Gross weight of plane ?
Reduction drive?
Special mounting issues?
Source?
please, anything else you feel pertinent by way of comparison with
Rotax.
Thank you,
Gene Z

Flush the system out with distilled water and then change over. I did that
with mine and I'm having zero problems.

What Rick said. Several years ago I bought a Camry with the green stuff in it and
wanted to go to the silicate free coolant. Drained it, filled it with water,
ran it, drained it, and then simply parked it next to the hangar and stuck the
hose in it and let the car run while the hose was stick into the radiator so
that the excess would overflow.
After a half hour I drained it, mixed it 50/50 and never had a moments problem.
Surely the Camry has a lot more places for the old coolant to hide than your
Rotax system.
