Dear Listers, There are just a few more days left of this year's List Fund Raiser! Response has been very good, but still well behind last year. If you've been waiting until the last minute to make your contribution and maybe even pick up a great gift, now might be good time to show your support! Please remember that there isn't any sort of commercial advertising on the Lists and the *only* means of keeping these Lists running is through your Contributions during this Fund Raiser. Please make a Contribution today! http://www.matronics.com/contribution Thank you! The 3rd Annual Nauga Field Fly-Around will be held December 4th, 5th, and 6th. Looks like there will be about 6 Kolbs attending. A few other alternate forms of aviation too. I have sent out details to the folks that have let me know they will be attending. I didn't want to post other people's iternaries on the web. Not a good idea these days. So if you are planning to attend and did not get an individual e-mail with details, let me know. Glad to answer answer any questions you may have. http://kolbadventures.blogspot.com/ -------- Thanks too much, John Bickham Mark III-C w/ 912UL St. Francisville, LA I know many pilots and a few true aviators. There is a distinct difference that I have the greatest respect for. Hilliard is about 30 miles north of Jacksonville. I need to know if all the parts are there, if it is what the seller is representing and if the AW certificate and owner paperwork is in order. If you can please email me off list at worrybear@verizon.net or call 717 838 6678. It rests on a 0.125" thick aluminum tray which is riveted to the fuselage cage. My question is how to strap to the tray. Those of you with similar tanks, do you use straps and if so, are they metal or nylon. I've seen nylon straps used before on an aluminum tank installation but am concerned that they might not be strong enough. Mark Rinehart >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> How is the tray attached? Remember a chain is only as strong as the weakest link. On the bottom of my 16 gal alum tank, there are 2 pieces of alum angle welded to the bottom of the tank. They are installed so that they match the tubing that the stock tank support tray would have sat on. There are some tabs welded to the support tubing. And the aluminum angle is bolted to the tabs. The mounting bolts go through some rubber grommets to give some vibration dampening and the tank is also grounded to the frame. Make sure that if in an accident the tank does not come loose from its mounting, sheer the fuel lines, well nuf said. It really got me to check with TNK about its availibility. I suppose TNK should publish all periodic improvements in their Kolb airplanes month or year wise to help us know and improve on existing design. I will ask Travis about it.. The can directions say it's usable down to 50 degrees and I had the paint at about 65 and the prop at maybe 60. It shot on real well, flowed out nicely and just as they say it was dry to the touch in about an hour. I let it dry in the house overnight and though there was no noticeable smell it did seem to outgas a bit more as the balance changed slighty by this morning. Put the prop back on this afternoon and took it for a flight. Even in the cool fall weather I managed to collect a few bugs and some exhaust soot, all of which wiped right off. For what it's worth 2 thumbs up. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Matronics Email List Services ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post A New Message kolb-list@matronics.com UN/SUBSCRIBE http://www.matronics.com/subscription List FAQ http://www.matronics.com/FAQ/Kolb-List.htm Web Forum Interface To Lists http://forums.matronics.com Matronics List Wiki http://wiki.matronics.com Full Archive Search Engine http://www.matronics.com/search 7-Day List Browse http://www.matronics.com/browse/kolb-list Browse Digests http://www.matronics.com/digest/kolb-list Browse Other Lists http://www.matronics.com/browse Live Online Chat! http://www.matronics.com/chat Archive Downloading http://www.matronics.com/archives Photo Share http://www.matronics.com/photoshare Other Email Lists http://www.matronics.com/emaillists Contributions http://www.matronics.com/contribution ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These Email List Services are sponsored solely by Matronics and through the generous Contributions of its members.
