I bought it from Jerry Olinek @ Greensky Aviation & had him install it for me. I have the Type 5 exhaust and it's a quiet engine. the oil tank on mine is mounted above the fuel tanks. I would prefer to have it somewhere else, but the way my FS is set up with a BRS there is no other place it would work. If you have not purchased an engine yet, you may want to consider buying one from Jerry. He has done a few Kolb installs, is very knowledgable, and has advised a few other Kolb owners on doing their own installs. The prices are all the same whether you buy one from him or somewhere else, so you may as well get one from a dealer with Kolb installation experience. I've got about 103 hrs. on mine to date and it runs great. I've got some photos I'd be happy to send you off-line, and if you need any other info on my set up I'd be glad to share. Just email me direct, jdy100@comcast.net. -------- Jimmy Young Missouri City, TX Kolb FS II/HKS 700 Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=301795#301795 ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 04:47:40 PM PST US From: Arksey@aol.com Subject: Kolb-List: RE: Kolb Mk lll doors Have been flying with Bob my neighbor in his newly acquired Kolb MK lll, he is progressing very good....did some stalls, slow flight, 360 deg. turns around a point, climbs at full power maintaining a cetain airspeed and descents with different power setting maintaining a certain airspeed.... and one day just let him fly around the area looking at stuff he had a interest in.....I just enjoyed the ride...thanks to all for your input on proper use of flaps...the problem with the lexan popping in on the doors was because it was to thin....we riveted a extra bow in each door which solved the problem...will take a pic and post...was easy to do....when lexan needs replacing will replace with thicker and remove the extra bow....The Mark lll with the 912 80 hp performs very well and is easy on gas....I am very impressed....tis a joy to fly...to help support the Kolb Company we could give a demo ride to those that might have the need....jim swan Do not archive FIRESTAR ll 503 Michigan jswan ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 05:01:29 PM PST US From: "John Hauck" Subject: Re: Kolb-List: RE: Kolb Mk lll doors Jim S: 1/16" is normal thickness of Lexan for doors. 1/8" for windshield. john h mkIII .the problem with the lexan popping in on the doors was because it was to thin.... ....jim swan ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Matronics Email List Services ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post A New Message kolb-list@matronics.com UN/SUBSCRIBE http://www.matronics.com/subscription List FAQ http://www.matronics.com/FAQ/Kolb-List.htm Web Forum Interface To Lists http://forums.matronics.com Matronics List Wiki http://wiki.matronics.com Full Archive Search Engine http://www.matronics.com/search 7-Day List Browse http://www.matronics.com/browse/kolb-list Browse Digests http://www.matronics.com/digest/kolb-list Browse Other Lists http://www.matronics.com/browse Live Online Chat! http://www.matronics.com/chat Archive Downloading http://www.matronics.com/archives Photo Share http://www.matronics.com/photoshare Other Email Lists http://www.matronics.com/emaillists Contributions http://www.matronics.com/contribution ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These Email List Services are sponsored solely by Matronics and through the generous Contributions of its members.
