Concerning the installation of the "H" bracket in the boom tube: I preferred not
to clamp or put bending pressure on the outside of boom tube... What I did
was put the "H" bracket in place and using either 1" or 2" think boards I placed
one on the top leg of the "H" bracket and the other on the opposite leg.
I then pushed a wedge shaped 2x4 between the two flat boards causing the two
bracket legs to flex to a tight fit against the inner walls of the tube. Not
much pressure was required and this insured a snug fit between the two ("H" bracket
and boom tube) for riveting purposes.
As Richard Pike says... "For what it is worth"...

Cabinet maker's/carpenter's wooden clamps work well. Only slight pressure
is required to get the job done.

>The best way to exactly match rivet holes and reuse the H-section is to
make a paper tube template.
I shouldn't even pipe up as I am not a pilot and don't have a Kolb. However,
fine points of etiquette have always escaped me so...
I have JUST retired after a long and glorious career in GIS. Think automated
mapping, spatial analysis, aerial photos, GPS, HUGE plotters and scanners.
We quit using paper for critical drawings years ago as it is not
dimensionally stable. Paper stretches, humidity affects it, John down the
hall leaves it lying around with coffee stains...
Maybe use mylar, eh?
