Gene,
Great photo, indeed. But now you got me wondering. I assume the bright white light
at the nose is a landing light but I don't get the orange lights about mid-span
on each wing.... sorta makes it look like a twin.

Very nice. In the UK ultralight flights are strictly VFR so everything stops
at sundown. Officially. a shame this time of year when it is light until
around 10 pm

Thanks for the info and photos, Gene. That is very cool.
I broke my LED "landing" lights recently and do not plan on replacing them, but
still have my excellent wing tip strobes.
do not archive.

Patrick:
Sun sets at 9:23 PM BST in London tonight.
In the States ULs can fly 30 minutes after sundown if they have appropriate
anticollision light.

Why thank you men. You can train an old dog new tricks.
If an over 60 carpenter can build a Kolb and fly it anyone can.
Fact is I can't remember being that scared. I really didn't need the
Xtra pair of under garments though.
I'm on the ground but I'll be high all day!

Yeah, Thom,
His messages are coming through fine via e-mail, but not on the web

Why do you want red lights facing forward? Or to put it another way, why do you

LOL,
Reverend, pray for me. I can't deny it, I'm a hopeless renegade.
But my tail lights are red too. : )
I'm not pretending to be conventional.
I don't mind other pilots being confused as long as they see me. The
speed I fly they they may just think I'm backing up.
Red just happened to be the only color I had on hand when I got the
inspiration to increase my visibility.
I apologize to any pilot I may have succeeded in confusing with my
little red LEDs.

Subject: | parting out an UltraStar |
I guess I have to be realistic and say I won't be rebuilding my UltraStar,
and might as well part it out now.
I'd love to sell intact, but it's a bit overweight, and I missed the
deadline to grandfather into Sport Pilot. Here's what I got:
wings need fabric.
Rotax 447 with B gearbox. Point ignition. Probably time for a rebuild,
I put on 300 hours, after I got it used with no record of hours. It's got
the 2:1 gear ratio in the gearbox, and I have the other gear that makes it
1.56:1 (i think that's what it was)
Matco hydraulic brakes, not differential.
BRS chute.
Flaperon function, my own design. This cannot be separated from the
airframe.
2 props........a 2 blade wood Precision adjustable and a 4 blade
UltraProp adjustable.
Instruments: dual cylinder temp. dual exhaust temp. tachometer.
speedometer. altimeter.
Original set of 2 gas tanks, holding 3 gallons between them. 5 gallon
seat tank.
Com helmet. Delcom handheld radio.
Open trailer custom fit to the UltraStar.
Make me offers for parts, or all of it together. Machine is located in
Central Wisconsin.
