route I eventually intend to take. So far all my training time will count towards
that and I don't know why it all won't count. All I will need is 5 more hours
training, another check ride, a medical and a cross country. I'm pretty close
      to that right now.

The only thing you may have to watch out for is who you got your training from
to start with. If he was only a SP CFI then the hours may not count toward the
PP (some new ruling they came out with recently). You may want to ask EAA Tim
      about that one.

Cristal is correct except that it is not a new ruling. BUT the FAA did issue a
statement which made this clarification... clear. This is one of the reasons
I'm letting my CFI-SP ticket expire.

This ruling makes no sense whatsoever, but it is what it is.
Training by a CFI-SP does not count toward any higher rating. The solo work does
      but not the instructional hours.

      Thom
Not Kolb-related except for this warning: PLEASE DO NOT FLY UNDER
      BRIDGES.
If anyone ever needs to know, the Eerie Canal's bridges, all 294 of
them, have a minimum clearance of 15'4"
      Pretty tight for a Kolb.
There's a 'flight' of five locks at Lockport; no longer used. Culvert
Road goes under the Canal near Medina. Lovely country.
      Good aerial pix?

Not to worry. The only instructors in my area are for private pilots. All my
      time so far counts.

BTW, Tim is a great resource if anyone needs answers about Sport Pilot.
