Thanks for the source, George.
Those are the cat's pajamas. Even at $20 they are a good deal compared to most
I've researched.

Larry,
I had the exact opposite problem when I bought one of those little bitty chewing
gum size cameras you used at one time. I could not get it to work with my Apple
stuff, so I returned it to Amazon for a hassle-free refund.
So Apple is not worse than Microsoft, but they are both loath to cooperate with
one another.
My wife sat on her 4 year old MacBook a couple weeks ago and broke it so she ended
up buying a Toshiba netbook for about $300 and had to go back to WinDOS. She
was not happy about that but is acclimating. Once I downloaded Safari for windows
she was ok with it.

Greetings,
I'm also having problems editing my videos. Wish I can find an editing pr
ogram that will do the job.
Here is a video from my camera without editing.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9R3S9xp3UI
This is the same video after editing using the program that came with the
camera, lost the HD quality, screen size and sound.

Shorten the fiberglass rod considerably. This should reduce
springiness.

It worked great on turf, but was too springy on pavement. When I
taxied on pavement, the spring would start oscillating and the nose and
tail would start going up and down. This would get worse and I would
have to stop to get it to settle down. Then as soon as I started to
taxi it would start doing it again.

I don't do a lot of videos, but, usually I convert whatever I've got (from a
variety of devices and formats) using a video converter program to WMV, then
I edit it with Windows Movie Maker.
I do have at least 2 other professional-level video editing programs, with a
lot more features, but I've realized that I very rarely use any of the other
features, and that WMM usually does 100% of what I need (for these brief,
flying videos, anyway).
After I get it edited and saved as a WMV file, I use the video converter to
change it to FLV, then I publish it on my own web site. That way I have
more control over it. But I realize that most people don't have their own
web site, and just use YouTube, and that's fine. YouTube will pick up a WMV
just fine.
The video converter program I use is: Aimersoft Video Converter (

Will, I use Windows Movie Maker and it does all the things you want and it
came free with Vista on my laptop. It's available as a free download from:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/moviemaker2.mspx
All I can really say about it is that it works for me and is fairly well
documented. Any thing I ever needed to know I found in the help files.

Anyone heard from Cristal the Kolb Mark II flyer? Been wondering about the birth
of her baby and if she
Still has the MKII???
Also John Hauck... How did you make the switch from the round landing gear spring
to the flat required by the new Maule type tail wheel? You may have posted
pictures at an earlier time??? How are you doing with therapy? Recovery? John,
I enjoy having the photo your plane in Alaska as the background on my office
desk top. It encourages me to keep working on mine.

Bob:
We fabricated a short tailwheel strut from .120" wall 4130 (don't remember
the OD, probably 3/4").
Welded a .250 4130 plate at the correct angle to make the pivot axle
vertical when the mkIII was sitting in the 3 point position.
A short piece of 3/8" ID bushing stock was welded to match the single bolt
hole on the Maule TW mount.
Maule TWs can be bought for 1 1/4" and 1 1/2" springs. I use the 1 1/4".
This is the last tailwheel I installed last May:
http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/lgpages/maule_sfsatw.php
There are some photos of the tailwheel and strut floating on the internet or
in someone's computer. I am still at Nell's with lap top. Most of my stuff
is at hauck's holler in my desk top or CDs.

Will,
I haven't had any problem when using Movie Maker. Its all pretty
easy and the sound is there. Of course the quality is going to suffer,
but that is You Tube, not the program. If it didn't it would take
forever to upload to You tube.

Hey! Suppose I had an early Firestar. Suppose I had no engine, so I lashed
on my Zenoah 242cc G25-B, rated at either 22, 24, 26 hp (depending on state
of tune and whim of rater) with 2.5:1 reduction turning a 54x28 2-blade
wooden Arrow prop. Do you suppose a 200 lb feller could get off the ground
with this setup? If so.. what kinda performance should he expect?
Thanks
GeoB

I have a United sensitive altimeter sitting on my shelf. It confuses me.
When I use it in my car in the mtns it seems to work right, so I assume the
problem lies with me.
When the weather man says high pressure my altimeter starts reading high
altitude. This last coupla weeks of high pressure has shown the highest
'altitude' I have ever seen on it, while on my shelf. Seems to my pea-brain
that it should have been opposite that! Please someone help me unnerstan
this fee-nom-e-nom.

Here'sa deal: A feller has an early firestar, ~250 hours. Some nice
instruments, a 40 hour 503 DCDI, intake silencer, TN wooden prop. Trailer.
8.50 x 6 tires plus smaller tires. Think older Icom radio. Fuel totalizer.
New set of floats. VG's. Needs wings and tail feathers covered. $3500. He
has been trying to sell it for a while now. Came down from $5500. Has >
$7500 invested. I thought it was a killer deal but I'm not sure.
