I think this is the info you want. I have the whole manual if you
need it. Let me know. I've separated into 3 pdf file to keep file
sizes small. Hope this helps

Concerning "engine options" for the Kolb MKIII...
Someone asked me: What about changes to the Kolb engine mount area? The Kolb
folk can do the mount for a VW conversion at the factory if ordered that way.
I had to take my cage back to the factory to have it done. It cost me the amount
of a trip and the parts and welding. I did not know when I purchased the
MKIIIX kit that I would decide on a VW conversion. The guys at Kolb did the modification
in their very professional and efficient manner.
What do I have in dollars in my Great Plains Aviation 2180cc, four stroke, four
cylinder, dual ignition (Magneto and .009 ignition) VW conversion with Valley
Engineering re-drive, was also asked? Both engine and re-drive are new from
the factory. Steve Bennett built the engine (worth the extra amount to have him
do it) and installed the re-drive.
Though I am not totally finished with the installation I am calculating I will
have less than $10K in the power plant installation(engine, exhaust, solenoid,
battery, gauges, prop, etc). Take a look at the Great Plains web site for exact
amounts. The engine with re-drive (carburetor, alternator, light weight starter,
oil cooler, harnesses) is less than the cost of one popular two stroke,
two cylinder engine with gear box.
Each person does have to go with what they prefer and what their pocket book will
allow. One size does not fit all for true.
It will be interesting to see what engines are developed over the next few years.
The Great Plains folk have been producing a great product for more than two
decades.
Naturally I am biased about the engine I have chosen. I expect all to be biased
about their choice.

Why not contact Sandy at Grand Rapids Technologies.
At this time they do not have them on their web site under the
support tab. Sure they would email it to you where you can print it
out. Excellent units by the way and an excellent company with
exceptional service.
I am a repeat customer.

Subject: | Mk3 throttle cable routing |
I'm trying to figure out how to run my throttle cables on my 582. I'm using CPS
cables and 3-to-1 splitter. I'm thinking of mounting the splitter to a plate
on the mag end of the engine (on the carb side) where there are a couple of
unused inserts. From there would route the cable down the back of the cage through
the fabric and then forward under the fuel tank to the throttle. My cage
is covered 1/2 way up with the top of the covering level with the fuel tank,
and I'm trying to minimize the number of holes I put in the covering. Curious
as to what some others have done.
