When I hear re-registration will cost $5.00 I think, fine, sounds reasonable to up date the FAA records. Then, when I hear it may go up to $45.00 or higher, I think they are just trying to produce revenue, after they have accomplished their original goal. Only time will tell, what the fee will become. Oh well, if I have 20 years of flying left, I will only have to renew six times. Lanny N598LF

    Subject: Re-registration schedule
    From: Richard Girard <aslsa.rng@gmail.com>
While the link on the notice I posted last week didn't work, Carol Carpente r of Rainbow Aviation was able to find it. Here's the official blurb from the FAA and the schedule. *WASHINGTON, D.C.* ' In an effort to create a more accurate aircraft registration database, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is requiring re-registration of all civil aircraft over the next three years and renewal every three years after that. The rule establishes specific expiration dates over a three-year period for all aircraft registered before Oct. 1, 2010, and requires re-registration o f those aircraft according to a specific schedule. All aircraft registration certificates issued on or after Oct. 1, 2010 will be good for three years with the expiration date clearly shown. =93These improvements will give us more up-to-date registration data and better information about the state of the aviation industry,=94 said FAA Administrator Randy Babbitt. Current regulations require owners to report the sale of an aircraft, the scrapping or destruction of an aircraft, or a change in mailing address, bu t many owners have not complied with those requirements. Re-registration of all U.S. civil aircraft by Dec. 31, 2013 will enhance th e database with current data derived from recent contact with aircraft owners . The new regulations also will ensure that aircraft owners give the FAA fres h information at least once every three years when they renew their registration. The FAA will cancel the N-numbers of aircraft that are not re-registered or renewed. The schedule for re-registration and registration expiration is: Re-registration and registration expirationCertificate issued (Any year)Certificate expiresRe-registration requiredMarchMarch 31, 2011Nov. 1, 2010'Jan. 31, 2 011 AprilJune 30, 2011Feb. 1'April 30, 2011MaySept. 30, 2011May 1' July 31, 2011 JuneDec. 31, 2011Aug. 1' Oct. 31, 2011JulyMarch 31, 2012Nov. 1, 2011'Ja n. 31, 2012AugustJune 30, 2012Feb. 1' April 30, 2012SeptemberSept. 30, 2012M ay 1' July 31, 2012OctoberDec. 31, 2012Aug. 1' Oct. 31, 2012NovemberMarch 31, 2013Nov. 1, 2012'Jan. 31, 2013DecemberJune 30, 2013Feb. 1' April 30, 20 13 JanuarySept. 30, 2013May 1' July 31, 2013FebruaryDec. 31, 2013Aug. 1' O ct. 31, 2013 The final rule can be found at: http://edocket.access.gpo.gov/2010/2010-17572.htm So, check your information online at FAA.gov so you know that it's all current and get the date of issuance for your registration and you will kno w when to start looking for your re-registration letter in the mail.
