Hi Richard, interesting. I don`t think that I have ever seen a written spec. about the plate placement. Main thing is that it is likely to survive a crash. What is on the plate is specified of course. Pat

On Barnstormers there are many Kolbs at great deals. Go to "Browse" for aircraft then select experimental and go to Kolb. There are 3 912S powered extras for around 30K. I just sold my Yamaha powered MKIII for about half of that. Now is a hard time to sell an airplane so be prepared for it to take many months and the price you get might sting a little. Rick I'm sure you know but to do a true test between a two blade and a three blade prop you need to change the length of the props. If you have room you need to fit a longer blade to the two blade prop. A correctly sized two blade prop will out perform a tree blade prop. A three blade prop is better if you don't have room to swing a longer two blade prop. A three blade prop is normally much smoother and quieter than a two blade prop especially on a pusher. Richard, The Power Fin was an inch longer. Not enough to make a real difference, I know, but some. I was hoping for parity between the two and was a bit surprised that the 2 blade did not at least equal the 3. What truly amazed me was the initial test when the 4 blade was mounted on the 582 and the engine couldn't pull it. Makes me really wonder what a properly set up HKS could do on the Mk III. I have the coming winter to decide about that. Pat, I don't know about the validity of the story, but what I've been told by several, including the FAA inspector who issued the Airworthiness Certificate for my Firestar, that this data plate was mandated following a request from the DEA. So many planes were being stolen in Florida and surrounding states to be used for drug running and then crashed in the Everglades that they needed a way to determine ownership of the aircraft without having to bring in heavy equipment to dig it out. Hence the request that the plate be put behind the rear most loading door or near the tail. Rick On Thu, Nov 11, 2010 at 4:01 AM, Pat Ladd <pj.ladd@btinternet.com> wrote: > Hi Richard, > interesting. Rick your message was absent. all: regarding the free meal thingy.... if you are a hermit like me, don't bother. Out of curiosity I dropped in to one of the chain restaurants offering the freebie tonight. They don't owe me anything but what the hey. Chili's. Packed. Mostly youth and obese regulars. I was served a beer at the bar and waited, and waited some more. Tucked a few bucks under my mostly unconsumed beer and walked out. I hate crowds.
