Can you set up a tent in Paradise City by your plane, or do you have to camp in the campground? What can you tell me about facilities (showers, etc.,) the cost, or any other helpful info. I've looked at the NOTAM for arrival procedures, but it's this other stuff I'd like to know more about. I've driven to the show nearly every year, and would like to fly my Kolb this time. I have some friends based at Airglades in Clewiston, who will be flying their Drifters up, and they plan to camp at nearby South Lakeland Airport. I'm comparing options. In either case, I hope to tie down near the Kolb tent during the day. Any info or advice is welcome. Unlike Oshkosh they are happy to have us fly in and camp there. There are no requirements to call in or anything. Just don't fly in during any of the airshows. Camping is free if you don't ask and you could for a short time get away with out even the entry pass. Airplane parking is close to the strip on the East end. There are showers in the ultralight camp ground. That would be north to the road then East through a gate/check point (you need a entry pass to return) over the creek and you are there. I will be camping all week in the ultralight campground this year. Is that possible? Thanks, Dave Watkins Dave W: Rick Neilsen gave a good description of camping in the UL area. I'll be there on 28 Mar. Don't know if I will be camping with my airplane or staying with the Kolb gang. Still working on getting transportation to town in the evening for supper, then back out to the airport to sleep in my tent. john h mkIII Titus, Alabama ________________________________ Message 5 _____________________________________ Time: 06:36:19 PM PST US Subject: Kolb-List: Re: Flying to Sun & Fun From: "Watkinsdw" My hope is to arrive on Thursday and leave Saturday or Sunday. Light winds would be nice, as opposed to brisk south winds over the tree line adjacent to the runway. I see the appeal if a meal or two in town, John. Fair food could get a little old after a few days! Worst case scenario -- too windy and I drive. Glad to schlep people or supplies. see y'all there.
