It looks to me like the claw tie down would be great in dirt but do little in sand.
Really doubt that much of anything would do well in sand unless it's corked
screwed down really deep.

Gang, I need a bit of help with RPM monitoring. My EIS has intermittent
loss of signal, probably due to a intermittent ground. Every thing else
works on the EIS, and while not a serious problem, It is irritating
enough that I would like to either fix it or have a back up. I thought
first of a Tiny Tach. Aircraft Spruce only lists 3 different models, a 2
stroke that might work with my HKS, a diesel model, and a really "fancy"
one that cost twice as much as the two stroke one. I don't have a
problem with any of them, I just don't want to have to send one back
because its not working with my engine. I also need a longer lead wire
than 6 feet. Any help and advice would be appreciated.
Larry

Larry:
You might consider going directly to Tiny-Tach. They would be able to sell you
the model you need for your engine, and they can add (at a charge) the additional
length that you would need.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something
completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

You might also look into the ENM tachs. They're similar to the Tiny Tach,
but are programmable so you set it to work with your engine rather than
having to buy a particular model that matches. I have also found them to
be more reliable than the Tiiny Tachs.
