Thanks to all who replied with url's and advice. I am not quite sure why I didn't come up with the same conclusions that all of you did. Too spoiled by all the knowledge that is available just for the asking I guess. Larry, Not to assume, but what kind of engine do you have? Do you have single or dual ignitions, if dual could you be loosing the one your monitoring. Just a thought. Those Tiny Tach's do work good as long as you get the proper model. jerb

I am using the HKS 700 E and it does have dual ignition. There are two wires coming out of the ?lighting coil? that will indicate the RPM's Either one will work with occasional lapses, neither one will work all the time. The two pink connectors are the wires that indicate RPM, the blue wire is the one that goes to the EIS. I will again check to make sure that I have a good connector on the EIS wire. The weather finally moderated and dried up enough for me to go flying for the first time since Nov 6. I spent it doing landings. I needed it too. I found with that long of idle time that I had a mouse trying to make a nest in the area behind the seat. Not sure when he abandoned ship, I can only hope that it was at altitude. I plugged the boom tube, so that it will be tougher for any of them to get in again. Next year when I put it up I will rig a rope to the rafters to raise the tail up off the ground high enough that the little rascals cannot get into the tube. Oh, we are back to windy and cold. Glad that I took advantage of the fleeting good weather. If someone wants to get information of the type this guy wants, one of the best ways to get it is to go to all the different type lists. I can't see t hat it hurts the Kolb list members to have this posted. If they don't want to respond, they don't have to. It's not "Kolb purist" but neither was my r equest for information about getting to AirVenture. I'd like to think that we're part of a larger aviation community and could help out others. There may be folks who think it may be a "slippery slope" - when does the list mo ve from Kolb-related to non-Kolb, but I think this type of survey is "harml ess" to this list and the results might be interesting to us. I, as one who occasionally posts slightly non-kolb, agree. If the list is extremely busy with very serious issues I would not, but during lulls in activity I don't see any harm. The subject matter should be kept aviation oriented. and write: do not archive BB -whose MkIII is still dormant in the back reaches of my basement cave. Larry, go to Tiny Tach's web site. Tel them what engine you have and the length you need in lead wire an they will make it to your specifications. I did this and it is only a few dollars more. Bob Building MKIIIX GPAS VW RE-drive N830PB

As long as someone posts a specific "subject" it shouldn't hurt anything. We can filter out different subjects we are not interested in. I subscribe to almost all aviation lists. I have a flood of emails and are continuously sorting out subjects I'm not interested in. I use gmail which keeps like subjects and like lists together. The use of surveys is a great learning tool for everyone if the results are available to all. bruce On Sun, Apr 3, 2011 at 10:22 AM, robert bean <slyck@frontiernet.net> wrote: > I, as one who occasionally posts slightly non-kolb, agree.
