Hope all our Kolb friends were spared from the recent tornados. Hauck's holler is still in one piece. Haven't had a chance to go over to the airstrip and check my airplane, but I have a feeling it will be ok. We had strong winds and rain, but missed all the tornados. john h mkIII Titus, Alabama

I do that kind of stuff. We had a tornado abou t 4 years ago one mile south of the Camdenton Airport. Killed a man and his wife as it destroyed their house. Tornados are NOT ve ry useful!! I built a 8' x 8' x 7' tall cinderblock storm cellar underneath my garage floor. It has a 3' x 3' steel grate lid that you raise to get to the stairs that lead down. I suppose I should have warned you about my sense of humor. BTW=2C I'M a real estate agent ( in addition to being a contractor=2C too. I may kid a lot=2C but I don't lie. ) I had a good=2C long talk today on the phone with Rick Girard. (He lives in Kansas=2C I'm pretty sure they have tornados there=2C too) I was quite concerned about installing the new aileron balances I made re cently. I just wasn't used to the feel of them! Because I have droop tips=2C I need to make the "spades" like Mike Bigelow made=2C except mine also incorporate some extra weight=2C since his were for aileron assistance=2C and not for balancing. Scott Thom pson built a set of aileron balances that he installed on his plane that were similar to Mike B's=2C except his were for balance only=2C and no t for easing the aileron forces. I sort of just combined the two!! Mine WILL assist with making the stick forces lighter=2C but they also balance the ailerons.......exactly.!! With everything unhooked on the ailerons=2C and the balancer/spades attac hed=2C it is amazing how exact they make the ailerons hang! Flip them up several inches and after 12-15 oscillations=2C they both settl e down to being exactly level. Mike Welch MkIII N212MN
