The people that know way more about this than you or me have never claimed that there would be a gentle gradual over-all even warming of the earth. They say "Unpredictable.. wildly varying.. droughts, flooding, etc. Some things you can't dumb it down and have it still work. The world is a complex place.

George is right. Global warming/cooling is a climate issue. Flying Kolb's is, among other things, a weather issue. Very different. So, since climate isn't involved with flying Kolb's, it's off-topic on this forum. ;-) -- Robert On Tue, May 31, 2011 at 5:16 AM, George Bearden <gab16@sbcglobal.net> wrote: > > > it must be that "GLOBAL WARMING "making it snow way late in the year > > It certainly may be. John just called on the radio, he is 50 miles East, and closing fast. He has a tail wind for a change. Larry Note: If you forward this email, please delete the forwarding history, which includes my email address.

I think he may want to sit a spell. Must have gotten at least two years flying time in that trip. For the rest of us, here's a question: in your airplane (Kolb indeed) if you get a quick uplift thermal, how does your attitude end up at the top of the puff? Nose high? level? nose down? To be honest I'm not sure which way mine reacts but I do remember having to jockey the stick around a bit to stay within a reasonable airspeed. John must have been churning a few tubs of butter during some of his trip. Bob, I am not aware that my Firestar does anything other than stay in the same attitude. When I was first learning to fly mine, I came over a ridge that was experiencing "upslope winds". I was holding 600 feet above the rim to give myself some maneuvering room. I went from 600 feet to more than 1500 feet in less time that it takes to write this. The planes attitude was the same, but my shorts never were again. Here are some pics of John's arrival. The flight took place between December 14th and December 23rd 1986. The first non-stop, non-refueled around the world flight in history took 9 days 3 minutes and 44 seconds. *J***** John knows the feeling ! ****** [Wink] -------- Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society.
