According to ad, cage is damaged from bad landing. Might be a good opportunity for someone jonesing for a Slingshot. http://www.barnstormers.com/ad_detail.php?ID=556075 -------- Thom Riddle Buffalo, NY (9G0) Kolb Slingshot SS-021 Jabiru 2200A #1574 Tennessee Prop 64x32 Truth is what stands the test of experience. - Albert Einstein Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=342040#342040 ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 08:44:12 AM PST US From: Subject: Kolb-List: Flying in the Desert Flew over to the Alvord Desert and the Steens Mountain yesterday morning. Perfect day for flying. The desert is very wet and green, very abnormal. The Alvord is up to the edge of the sage brush. Normally, we would be able to land anywhere on the lake at this time of the year. There was no one at the Alvord Hot Spring or in the area of the Alvord Dry (wet) Lake. Saw some antelope and a golden eagle. Three fellow Kolbers are arriving today. Mike Marker and Gary Haley are flying in from Houston, TX, and Los Lunas, NM. They spent the night last night, camping out at Ibex Lake in Western Utah. We have been following them by SPOT. They are back in the air and flying north this morning. Roger Hankins is loading up at Grants Pass, OR, trailering his Kolb and other toys to the Rock House. Should arrive at 2000 or 2100 hours this evening. Got to make a call this morning to Steve Henry, over near Boise. Steve is the fellow that does the dead stick take offs. He started out with a Firestar before switching to the Highlander. john h mkIII Rock House, Oregon ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 09:36:13 AM PST US From: Arksey@aol.com Subject: Kolb-List: RE: flying in the desert. thanks for the report John, you guys are going to have fun...good pictures....blue skys....fly safe....jswan jim swan firestar ll 503 michigan ________________________________ Message 4 _____________________________________ Time: 12:03:51 PM PST US From: Subject: Re: Kolb-List: RE: flying in the desert. Gary H and Mike M landed at Jack Pot, NV. When they depart there they will have 171 sm to fly over total wilderness. No towns or settlements in between. There is a gravel strip at Grassmere, NV, but no facitlities of any kind. It is a great experience flying through that area, totally depending on the Kolb to get you to your destination. Weather here is 71F with light winds. I wish all of you Kolbers could join us. Would be quite a sight to see a couple hundred Kolbs tied down at the Rock House. Will try to take a lot of pictures to share with you all. After being confined to a wheel chair last year this time, and missing my annual flight West, I understand how important those messages and photos were. Ezra, the Tennessee Walker, got a little excited and decided to show off when I flew around the Rock House on arrival. On the ground, taxiing south to the house, after 11 days on the road. The Rock House from ground and air. john h mkIII Rock House, Oregon ________________________________ Message 5 _____________________________________ Time: 01:10:50 PM PST US From: "b young" Subject: Re: Kolb-List: RE: flying in the desert.
