Chris/Thom
I have the optional unlocking tail wheel and found with the supplied
springs that taxiing in high winds the weak springs would allow the tail
wheel to unlock. Found it a real pain doing 360 degree turns on the taxi
way with a unlocked tail wheel. I changed to heaver compression springs and
drilled tail wheel bell crank to allow the control chains to be attached
closer to the pivot point to allow the tail wheel enough rotation to unlock
at full travel of the rudder with the heaver springs installed close to
snug. I wouldn't do anything to the tail wheel mechanism that might allow
the tail wheel to unlock unintentionally.
