List,
I have run JBM stuff on all my 2 strokes for over 7 years.I never had to re
place a JBM rubber part. The 912 Rotax socket's rubber has been separating f
rom the aluminum flanges. That does not happen with JBM's.

JBM also sells after-market replacement rubber boots for the Bing carbs.
Anybody have experience with these? My 912 is due for new carb boots, and t
he Rotax boots are somewhat expensive. The JBM website claims that their
=9Cexact replacement=9D part for this item will outlast the Rot
ax boot, at less than half the cost.
Am hoping someone on this List has bought these rubber boots from JBM, and
can comment on their quality and longevity.

Hi all,
I am trying to find the source of a better quality rubber carb socket for m

on ebay, which is where it was supposedly advertised. Can anyone help?

Amen to Gary's recommendations. On top of being very good parts, even their
throttle cable boots and primer port covers are better than Rotax parts,
they are nice people to deal with and they ship quickly. Two thumbs up.

Folks I am thinking of finally of moving to Florida. Any of you Floridians that
can shed some light on where is the best place for Kolbs Gen-ave cities to live.
I intend to spend about 3 weeks looking at places in Florida to call home.
Any suggestions and ideas would be good.
I will need a reasonable priced hanger to finish my M3x and that is probably one
of the main considerations for a place to move to. I'd prefer southern Florida.
Thanks

Steve,
I did some quick checking, and see that Florida Gators Airpark is NOT the folks
you referred to,
although their airfield is only a few minutes away. I visited BOTH in July.
From my understanding, though, the Central Florida Flyers seemed to be more a
closed airfield,
and used exclusively for their own hang-gliding instruction. I could be mistaken....but
that certainly the impression I got
when I talk with the main guy in charge.

Brother Ron:
I keep the Kleenex Fly at Airport Manatee, a 3,100 ft grass strip (48X) 5
miles south of Ruskin on US 41.
Ruskin is just south of Tampa/St. Pete on the edge of Tampa Bay.
It is a fun, sleepy place to fly from and there are approximately 24
enclosed and 30 covered but not enclosed
hangars. There is a waiting list for the enclosed, but no wait for the
others. It is in the middle of large tomato
fields and flat sod farms and pasture.... all of them flatter than my high
school sweetie's chest.... and a number
of light acft have taken advantage of the open terrain at times of acute
mechanical insufficiency in the ten
years since I have been here. It's a great place for the early flights of
home-made machinery.
There is usually little activity on the strip during the week, and just a
little
more on weekends, but still not much when compared with most other strips.
One guy with a 7AC Champ
gives instruction and does annuals, but it is slow. About 50 or 60
airplanes base at the strip.
The fly lives in an enclosed trailer strapped and anchored to the ground on
a tiedown at mid-field... Tiedown
fees are reasonable, but I don't know about the hangars.
If you are curious, Google earth will give a good idea of what 48X looks
like.
There was a period of uncertainty about the future of 48X three years ago,
when the family which owns
the land attempted to close and sell it. That appears to have passed for
now and the airport is under new management which
has been active in putting in improvements. There is still no guarantee
about the long-term future of the place, however, and
I am not sure I would move to the area just to roost at this strip
Worth what ye paid fer it...

Steve, thanks for the info. That strip is just a few miles from my roach infested

I don't know if this property is still available but a heckova deal if it is: http://www.aviationhomes.com/gallery/view_album.php?set_albumName=album06
My place is east of Floral City and Flying W is south of the Villages by a few

I'll likely be over there doing some tire kicking this winter.

I will make an attempt to stop by and look at the place. I should have added that
the hanger has to be enclosed as it will also be a home for the Beech Sierra
and some tools and all of that.
I have been looking at Homestead area, any thoughts about that (anyone) ?

airplanes base at the strip.

Subject: Kolb-List: Kolbs in Florida
Any of you Floridians that can shed some light on where is the best place
for Kolbs Gen-ave cities to live. Any suggestions and ideas would be good.
I will need a reasonable priced hanger to finish my M3x and that is probably
one of the main considerations for a place to move to.
I'd prefer southern Florida.
Thanks

I own a home in Venice, FL. The winters are great but a bit warm for me in
the summer so I move back to Michigan for the warm months. Generally
speaking the closer to the water the warmer it is in the winter and cooler
in the summer. Venice is very affordable for housing but hanger rent is
high, $300 a month and Jet traffic is a bit concerning at Venice.
There are a number of small town airports in the middle of south Florida
that have nice airports. There are even some small grass strips where hanger
rent would be much less. Again in land the temperatures go more to
the extremes.
Michigan has been trying to chase me to Florida with all their tax
increases. Florida has no personal income tax. Enjoy.
