The rims are matco 8x6 rims. You can buy the tires from Dressler tire. I chose this instead of going the Nanking (nanco) 21x12x8 way because I felt I did not need the 12" of width (the ones I used are only 7" wide). I ran the tires without tubes and the set up was fairly light. This solution is more expensive than the complete set up being offered because of the cost of the matco rims. They handle gulf coast dry sugar beach sand, mud, rough fields, tall weeds, sand and gravel bars in the rivers, and pavement well. They are trued and balanced to 120 MPH prior to leaving the factory. If I am going to be flying primarily on pavement and improved sod, I fly with about 10 PSI. If I am contemplating some serious off field work, I drop them down to 4 to 6 lbs. I tried 800X6 tires on my original Firestar. Quickly discovered the 15X6X6 lawn mower tires were all I needed to do my kind of flying off field. My main concern is to have enough floatation not to nose over in soft sand and ground. john h mkIII Rock House, near Burns Junction, OR ________________________________ Message 5 _____________________________________ Time: 12:40:24 PM PST US From: "b young" Subject: Re: Kolb-List: Aileron trim tab Aileron trim tabs are good and will hide the effects of poorly rigged wings but why not fix the wing rigging. >>>>>>>>>> some wings are built straight,,,, and depending on if the prop turns clockwise or counterclockwise, determines the trim tab direction. a lot of the trim tab correction is the torque of the engine, and if the manufacture does not know which direction the prop turns, he will design the wings for straight and level in a glide..... if for example all the props were to turn the same direction, mods to the wings can correct for the torque. example. when I first built I re rigged my wings so it would fly hands off... while in the air one aileron was down and the other up.... I rigged it back to my first configuration... added the trim tab, and now the ailerons are both even with the flaps. so pick your own / best configuration and go with it. my $0.02 worth. boyd young do not archive ________________________________ Message 6 _____________________________________ Time: 03:32:51 PM PST US Subject: Re: Kolb-List: Re: 8.5 X 6 tires on a Kolbra From: kinne russ Jason No picture!
