I would like to see that article Rick. If you can find a good "C" gearb ox, you'll be happier with it than using a "B". If you use the "E" you need t o move the engine back 3/4" from the stock Kolb 582 mount plate to get start er clearance to the back motor mount channel on the fuselage weldment. > Contact me if you go with the 582 and I'll send you the article I wrote on adapting the Honda Sabre radiator. I'm sure I'm missing things here. >> >> I'm trying to decide before I send out the 503 to be overhauled. Subject: Wheel Pants have important function
    From: "Dennis Thate" <retroman@frontier.com>
Wheel fairings are often called "wheel pants", "speed fairings" or, in the UK, "wheel spats". These fairings are a trade-off in advantages, as they increase the frontal and surface area, but also provide a smooth surface, a faired nose and tail for laminar flow, in an attempt to reduce the turbulence created by the round wheel and its associated gear legs and brakes. They also have the important function of preventing mud and stones from being thrown upwards against the wings or fuselage, or into the propeller on a pusher craft. -------- Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. The optimist invents the airplane and the pessimist the parachute. ~Gil Stern Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=405007#405007 Attachments: http://forums.matronics.com//files/dscn5855_107.jpg
