I think all the B models, from '52 on, had that light. Note the

Good luck!

Subject: | Re: Mounting light on Rudder? |
This is probably the worst mistake I have made in a long time.
For several years I had a bad case of airplane lust for a 170B. I fear it
has been reawakened after 10 minutes of looking at pictures of that
beautiful aircraft.

Rick, I wouldn't worry about it now. Undoubtedly after all these years
you lost that familiarity of the
"old airplane" smell, the one where when you first get in it they have
the "aluminum/slight gas" smell, with the slightest hint of
oil in the air. I'm sure gone, too, is the rocking feeling as you
adjust to get a comfortable position in the seat, and you stare at
the gauges and the control and remember how much fun they were to fly.
Damn it. Now I want one, too.

Subject: | Re: Mounting light on Rudder? |
if I remember... the regs say that the light should be mounted on the
most rear part of the air craft... that way the light can be seen
from any angle with out being blanked out.
if you don=99t want to add the chance of flutter... make a
bracket for the light and mount it to the forward part of the tail wheel
support rod where vibration would be at a minimum.

A short flight to check a recent fire at the base of the Steens Mtn. While
I was flying my EIS alarm went off at 7000 feet altitude. My oil pressure
jumped to 99 lbs.

The "eyelet" that I had connected to the oil sender wire broke. Obviously
due to vibration. I have to admit that I was surprised as it broke even
with the plastic nut that held it. The key to determine how serious the
warning, was that the reading did not change when I throttled back. I of
course landed to check it out, and repaired it by baring some of the wire
and reconnecting it.

Larry,
Checked with a fellow HKS flyer
He told me that if the wire to the
Sender breaks the eis will read
99 psi. Happened to him two
Times.
