Has any of you ever installed fan cooling on a free air 377. I own the free air and am told thatn the rea r cylinder will overheat on a KOL;B.If you have I wonder how much trouble i t is are there as lot of small parts or can on just bolt on the fan drive a nd the shrouds without much trouble?I thionk I am going to buy anothrer who le fandrive 377 so I get all tyhe parts I can buy an entire 377 on ebay for about $200 and if I go to l\LOCKWOOD or anyone selling new parts it wioll cost thousands over dollars for the parts. my next question is what about e lectric start the electric starters for snomobile377s cost $50 to $75 and t he electric start for ultralight377s cost $400 to $600 what is that about I m sure snomobilers abuse their machines much more than we do I would love t o have electric start but not at that price .Thanks for the help Chris=0A =0A-=0AChris Davis=0AKXP 503 492 hrs=0AGlider Pilot=0ADisabled from crash building Firefly ________________________________ Message 6 _____________________________________ Time: 07:41:08 AM PST US From: jim.baker@windstream.net Subject: Kolb-List: Re: free air 377 IiAgb3duIHRoZSBmcmVlIGFpciBhbmQgYW0gdG9sZCB0aGF0IHRoZSByZWFyIGN5bGluZGVyIHdp bGwgb3ZlcmhlYXQgb24gYSBLT0xCLiIKCkhhdmUgeW91IGNvbmZpcm1lZCB0aGlzIHRocm91Z2gg b3BlcmF0aW9uCj8gQXNzdW1wdGlvbnMgZm9sbG93aW5nIGFyZSBiYXNlZCBvbiBhIGNvb2xpbmcg c2hyb3VkIG9mIHNvbWUgc29ydCwgbm90IGp1c3QgbmFrZWQgY3lsaW5kZXJzLiBCcm9rZSBhIGJl bHQgb24gbXkgSGlydGggd2l0aCBmYW4gc2hyb3VkIGZhY2luZyBmb3J3YXJkIGluIDEwMCBkZWdy ZWUgd2VhdGhlci4uLi4uIGdvdCBhIDQwIGRlZ3JlZSByaXNlIG9uIGJvdGggZnJvbnQgYW5kIHJl YXIuIEFzIGxvbmcgYXMgeW91IGNhbiBtYW5hZ2UgeW91ciBncm91bmQgb3BlcmF0aW9uIHRpbWVz IGFuZCBjYW4gZ2V0IGFpcmZsb3cgc3RhcnRlZCBzb29uIGFmdGVyIHJlYWNoaW5nIGEgbWluaW11 bSBvcGVyYXRpbmcgdGVtcGVyYXR1cmUgb2YsIHNheSwgMjAwZiwgeW91J2QgcHJvYmFibHkgYmUg anVzdCBmaW5lLiAKCkppbSBCYWtlcgo0MDUuNDI2LjUzNzcgY2VsbA= ________________________________ Message 7 _____________________________________ Time: 08:24:13 AM PST US From: chris davis Subject: Re: Kolb-List: Re: free air 377 Jim no I haven't tried this out , I being a paraplegic cant afford trial an error I cant afford the expence of a seized erngine . O ne hot day at the airport I had to idle there waiting for a plane to move, and I was worried it might overheat...it didn't. =0A=0AOn Monday, April 7, 2014 2:14 PM, "jim.baker@windstream.net" wrote: =0A =0ANot I. Have never sold any of my "UL" stuff. I'm just perplexed why it won't work on a Kolb. If the shroud directs air to the front cylinder, why not the rear? Both have equal access to the incoming stream. The intake is offset to the side of the cylinders and creates an intake plenum. Shoot , my Hirth was in worse shape, having to direct the front cylinder air over the rear cylinder before exhausting and didn't have a problem.
