In theory it stops the plane standing on its nose. In practice, if you have got things wrong the nose will be yawing anyway and the bow will be laid flat. Ask me how I know. Just ensure that the stick is RIGHT BACK when you taxi, and open the throttle gently. Good luck Pat -----Original Message----- From: west1m Sent: Wednesday, April 23, 2014 1:41 AM Subject: Kolb-List: Re: Aligning landing gear I was not refering to the horizontal grounding bar but the verticle tube in the foreground. is this to protect the front in case of a noseover? -------- West1m Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=422280#422280 ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 02:57:42 AM PST US From: "Pat Ladd" Subject: Re: Kolb-List: Re: Post Your Kolb Pictures Hi, re the `D-Day stripes on the wing. Put there as you probably know so that the ack ack gunners just fired at anything without them. My family ran a hardware and paint store during the war and just before D-Day a lorry from the local airfield arrived and requisitioned all the black and white paint we had in stock to paint the aircraft. A couple of months ago at a meeting of ex glider and para`s I met the man who signed the requisition more than 60 years ago. Long arm of coincidence. Maybe I need to stop at Northern Tool and pick up one of the big casters with a 4 inch inflatable tire? OK I'll try easy on the throttle when I get this thing back together. -------- West1m Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=422310#422310 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Matronics Email List Services ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post A New Message kolb-list@matronics.com UN/SUBSCRIBE http://www.matronics.com/subscription List FAQ http://www.matronics.com/FAQ/Kolb-List.htm Web Forum Interface To Lists http://forums.matronics.com Matronics List Wiki http://wiki.matronics.com Full Archive Search Engine http://www.matronics.com/search 7-Day List Browse http://www.matronics.com/browse/kolb-list Browse Digests http://www.matronics.com/digest/kolb-list Browse Other Lists http://www.matronics.com/browse Live Online Chat! http://www.matronics.com/chat Archive Downloading http://www.matronics.com/archives Photo Share http://www.matronics.com/photoshare Other Email Lists http://www.matronics.com/emaillists Contributions http://www.matronics.com/contribution ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These Email List Services are sponsored solely by Matronics and through the generous Contributions of its members.
