`Smoketown? How can you get away with such an `offensive word? Don`t
you realise that this is a snide reference to those members of the
darker skinned races.
Over on my jazz list they are tearing themselves to pieces re titling
`Darktown Strutters Ball and if someone has the temerity to actually
play it they always go into a rigmarole `explaining` the reference.
Run for your life the PC police will be on your doorstep.

Heavens to Betsy. Over there in Pennsylvania, around the Dutch and Amish
area, there are several odd small town names. Besides Smoketown, which is
a relatively normal name, we have Ephrata, Bird in Hand, Paradise, Blue
Ball and then the one everyone laughs about, Intercourse.
