You may want to check out one of the new lithium batteries, they are still more expensive than lead acid batteries but the price has come way down. Incredible performance for very light weight. I have a 3.5 lb lithium in my 1.5l Mazda 2 - 4.5lb. in a 2.0l Mazda 3 and 1.25lb. in both a Honda 230cc 4 stroke dirt bike and a 250cc street bike. They work great, take up very little space and have almost no loss during storage. Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=423400#423400

I got one of the Shorai Lithium Iron batteries this last winter and put it in the MKIII to spin over a 582. Pricey, 14 amp hour, works great, weighs 2 pounds. But if you ever let it completely discharge, it's toast. I have an electrical cut off switch on mine just to keep it from bleeding down by any random current drains, or me forgetting to turn off the radio. Will let you know in a couple years if this battery was a good idea or not. -------- Richard Pike Kolb MKIII N420P (420ldPoops) Kingsport, TN 3TN0 My soul shall be joyful in the LORD; It shall rejoice in His salvation. John, This photo reminds me of all the great photos of the U.S. John W. took from the Kolbra. They used to be available on the net but have since disappeared with his passing, or I just can't find them anymore. One I remember that really stood out to me was the photo of the Manhattan skyline while he was flying down the Hudson River. I'd love to spend a full week of evenings looking at all of them again. John W's web site remained up for a short time after his death. Am guessing his family took down the web site. Was disappointed when that happened. His admirers lost a great source of information about flying and the flights that John W did in the short time he flew his Kolbra. Hardly a day goes by that I don't think of John W. I miss our flying days together. 25 May will be six years since he died. john h mkIII Titus, Alabama John, This photo reminds me of all the great photos of the U.S. John W. took from the Kolbra.
