Subject: | HIrth 2703 issues |
Hello all,
Sold my Firestar last July, wish I hadn=99t, but with one
Taylorcraft flying and another in recovery I didn=99t need my own
Air Farce...
That being said, I always appreciated the knowledge base here. I know
some folks have flown Hirth powerplants on their Kolbs. My brother
picked up a Challenger with a Kolb 2703 on it...great compression, no
spark though. it has the dual electronic ignition. Pulled the flywheel
and cleaned things up. I am not familiar with the electronic ignition
module/coils on the Hirth...wish it was a Rotax.
So...I do know they had igntion problems. The modules/coils have been
airframe mounted instead of engine-mounted, which is good. Anybody know
the proper procedure for testing these things without buggering them?
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated too!
Thanks much,
Stumpy, recovering Kolb jockey
