Yep, don't change that exhaust. I tried putting a port in the Rotax
muffler on a 447, to make more noise when I wanted to chase sheep.
Whenever I opened it there was a noticeable loss in power.....

Were you flying off a grass field at the time? Wheel alignment is not at all critical
on grass.

I had an odd thought. Did you check to see if the wings have multiple attachment
holes at the front? Are they both in the same hole? Sometimes it's the
simplest things that can screw you up.

I bent mine with my son's pipe bender... an exhaust fabrication s shop may
have something,, you need to be able to measure in fractions of deg. It
is touchy as you have to bend past Weber you need and let it spring back to
where you need it.. it takes several trys to find the point where the bend
stays put

Well, I finally sold my Kolb. The Ultrastar was a lot of fun over the
past six years, but it's time to move on... it's a great plane but I was
starting to bump into its limitations. My new (to me) plane, a Fisher
FP-404 biplane which I picked up today, is about 15 mph faster, not much,
but the 4-stroke engine means half the fuel consumption and thus double the
range... which expands my horizons quite a bit. Of course now I'll be
paying hangar rent instead of the outdoor tiedown rate for the Kolb in its
trailer, and I lose the freedom of a Part 103 ultralight, but I gain in
other areas. So it's all good. Gotta thank everybody here for all the
good advice over the past 6 years.
