FWIW I've flown Jim VanLaak's Xtra and it is a great aircraft. Very well made
and well equipped -- even has a TXP. So you can fly anywhere in this bird, and
a TXP is most welcome if you ever get into trouble or real bad weather

The plane is too slow to mix with the traffic. I have been based here for
12 years and have a nice hangar that is only 30 minutes from the house.
Moving it somewhere else an hour or more away would result in my never
flying it because I simply do not have time to do that. When I retire (5
years or so) I will get another and base in on a nice small field, but this
is not the time.
