If prop is ground adjustable make sure all angles are the same and one has not turned. Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=424928#424928

Gary, The first place I would look is for any broken welds or fractured tubing in the fuselage weldment in the area immediately adjacent to the engine. Start the engine and being careful of the prop feel all around the various tubes that you can easily reach to see if the vibration can be localized to a given area on the frame. I wouldn't put any stock in "Prop is visually OK". You do not say what kind and how many blades it has but all other indications being in the green, particularly CHT and EGT being normal and matched would rule out it being an engine issue, since the onset of trouble was sudden Since it is cheap and easy I would suggest you pull the prop off, taking note of the condition of its attachment bolts and their torque and the prop hub as well. If it's an IVO, check that one of the adjustment rod lever arms hasn't broken off by removing the adjustment screw. For all props get a piece of 1" tubing for an axle and a couple of matching drinking glasses and do a quick check of the balance of the prop blades. If you can borrow a prop that you know to be running smoothly put it on and see if the vibration goes away Rick Girard do not archive On Sun, Jun 15, 2014 at 8:51 PM, GARY JINDRA <gajindra@sbcglobal.net> wrote : > check torque on prop bolts > > *Gary Jindra* > *mark 3 912 ul* > > > On Sunday, June 15, 2014 8:10 PM, Kolb List <kolber3@atcyber.net> wrote : > > > Hoping some of you fellow Kolbers have some troubleshooting ideas. Check for play in the gear drive by trying to move the prop up and down. Als o, even though the prop visually looks ok one of the blades could have come o ut of adjustment assuming it=99s a ground adjustable prop. Engine moun ts are the #1 culprit but it sounds like you should check all of them. One a r ecent flight, the 582 engine on our Mark III suddenly went from being the us ual silky smooth to instant roughness/vibration =93 almost as if somet hing suddenly broke. We managed to get it back to the home airport about 13 miles away. The whole airframe was shaking, but the engine seemed to be de veloping full power. Switching from one ignition source to the other had no effect. The engine monitor indicated CHT and EGT to be nearly the same on b oth cylinders and within the normal range. I=99ve since changed spark plugs, removed both carbs for disassembly, cleaning and inspection. I comp letely drained the fuel system and put fresh premium alcohol free fuel in. All has had no effect on the vibration. Engine mounts appear to be OK - no t broken. The engine develops full power, but still shakes badly. Prop is visually OK. Would appreciate any tips on what to check next. The next st ep planned is a compression check.
